Questions & Answers

Why not use Google Translate if using a smartphone is required?

It's a bit pointless. I agree. However, it improves the usability of the system. Each time you want Google Translate to read out a translated sentence, you must press the button. This device does it for you automatically, thanks to its built-in speaker and microphone. It's simply more convenient to use with people with whom you're attempting to communicate.

Is it possible to translate the word "Netherlands" into another language?

The word "Netherland" does not refer to a language. The Dutch language is spoken by the people of the Netherlands.

Is it possible to convert English to Polish and the other way around?

Yes, it does, and you can see a complete list of supported languages by downloading the Cheetah TALK app from the CM Translator.

What's the difference between this and Google Translate or another translation app, given that it requires a data connection? How much is it worth?

When you go on a trip abroad. Because you will be heavily reliant on your smartphone, its battery life is extremely valuable. This device allows you to save battery life on your phone so that you can use it for other things. br>Using a translator with just one button is far faster and more convenient than using an App. br>Also, teaching non-native speakers is much easier. Use a one-button stick instead of a google translation APP if you have a tech-savvy family member.

It's simple and straightforward
5/5

First and foremost, I want to emphasize that I only use the Spanish translation. I've experimented with the others because it's entertaining, but I have no idea how well they sound to native speakers. I got it primarily because I have in-house expertise. laws who are native Spanish speakers with a basic command of the English language. This was a fantastic idea that actually came to fruition. They discussed what someone should do about college funding over the weekend. This was a complicated discussion about scholarships (which only cover a portion of tuition) and federal vs. private loans. Without translation, there was no way we could have talked about it. We were able to pass this small'remote' back and forth, and I was able to understand everything she was saying, and she seemed to understand me as well. Yes, I know the Google Translate app does this for free, but it's inconvenient to pull out your phone while trying to communicate with someone. It was also a breeze to pass this device back and forth. I mean, there's only one button on it. br>br>Set up, please. I took it out and put it on my iPhone as an app. The manual contains a small QR code that makes it simple to locate. I simply pressed the button after opening the app, and it immediately recognized my phone. Because there was a firmware update available, I allowed it to take place. After that, I chose a language in the app and it was ready to use. You can look at the conversation transcript in the app if you want to, but you don't have to take your phone out. Once it's connected, all you have to do now is make sure your phone is within Bluetooth range. Also, if you haven't used the device in a few days, it will tell you that it isn't connected when you press the button. Simply take your phone out of your pocket, open the app, and wait for it to connect before putting it back. br>br>This is a really cool device. It would be nice if they could add more languages in the future, but I only require the Spanish version, so I'm satisfied.

It's a very useful tool that's also very easy to use! TLDR: This is a fantastic product that accurately translates multiple languages in both directions
4/5

It's not quick, but it gets the job done! br>br>I work in a field where I encounter language barriers on occasion. It's not long conversations, but there are times when important details are missed as a result, so I figured this portable translator would be ideal. br>br>First and foremost, the packaging is very attractive! It's similar to what you get when you buy an Apple product: the translator, a manual, and a charging base are all included in the box. The device is sleek and fits comfortably in your hand; I have large hands and was concerned when I first saw it in person, but it fits perfectly. It's very ergonomic, according to my wife, who has very small hands. The charging cable is a two-in-one design. The device has a pronged magnetic base that secures it to the back, and the instructions for use are simple and straightforward. br>br>I charged mine with an apple brick, which was very fast. I have an Apple device, and the app was not too large to download, and it provided very clear instructions on how to pair the device, which worked well. When you opened the app, it wasn't instantaneous or automatic, but it was adequate. Languages, device volume, and other settings can all be controlled from the app. br>br>The device was able to recognize my voice as well as the voices of the other people I tested it on. The closer the device was to the person speaking's mouth, I felt like it 'heard' a lot better. The two- It is very effective to translate in this way. I'll admit that it doesn't adjust the English translation for proper sentence structuring at the moment, but that isn't a problem. However, it appears to structure things correctly when transitioning from English to your preferred language. It currently only supports seven languages, but if my memory serves me correctly, they plan to add 40 more as the software nears completion. The translation isn't lightning fast, and the slower your cellular connection is, the slower it is. My main requirement is for translation from English to Spanish in Mexico. I was only able to connect and work with that language once, and I got away with using the Spain version of Spanish. The two have slightly different translations and usage, but they both get the job done. PROS: br>br> br>Holds a long chargebr>Charges quicklybr>Fits comfortably in the handbr>Software and device are easy to use. CONSbr>1)Mexico Spanish server connection did not work reliably for mebr> *******UPDATE 11/8/19*********
The Mexico Spanish server appears to be working fine now, so this is no longer a CON! br>2)It takes a long time to translate a conversation (you won't be having a fast-paced conversation). br>br>Overall, this is a really useful device, especially for the price; it won't let you walk into the UN and have rapid deep conversations because it's not fast enough, but for translating important information accurately, it's definitely a winner, especially given all the new languages they plan to add; I'm also sure that the translation servers will get faster as the product develops.

This isn't the place to go for authentic cultural encounters
3/5

Children, for example. Allow me to explain the purpose of this CM Translator. Speaking with adults who are patient, loud, and clear in their communication. It's ideal for anyone who wants to engage in small talk. It's not the best way to communicate with children. For this, children speak far too quickly and quietly. They aren't going to do it again. If they're crying, don't bother trying to understand what they're saying. I am a foster mother with a son who speaks Spanish. Our lives were supposed to be made easier by using the CM translator. The translator is not up to par. At least 10 feet must be kept between you and your phone. It can listen to you just as well as Google Translate. It can take up to seven seconds for the translation to appear. It's fine if you're talking to adults who are patient and understanding of the delay, but it's not okay if you're trying to steer your child. Not in the least. br>It's a breeze to use the stick. The battery life on this device is excellent. It took several tries to pair it with your phone, and the instructions made it seem so simple. When you charge the stick, it disconnects from your phone, which is a pain. According to the instructions, there is a volume switch on the stick that must be activated with a strange thumb motion (which I have yet to figure out). Also, make sure there is no background noise when using it (it won't work as well). If you're in a noisy environment, the lady's voice cracks and she speaks in slurs. We ended up buying an 84-dollar stick that pretends to be Google translate at the end of the day. It's simple and non-evasive; all you need are adults who are patient, understanding, and know how to speak clearly, slowly, and loudly. Sooo. It is not intended for real-life cultural encounters.

TRANSLATION TIME IS EXTREMELY SLOW
3/5

It takes between 30 and 90 seconds for a simple "Hello" to be translated after pressing the button and speaking. Other instant translators I've used are: You press the button, speak, and then release the button, and the translation appears instantly. The item was returned for a refund.
