A good overall design and construction can be found in this model. Unfortunately, there is a manufacturing defect evident in the units. Unlike Marantz, Amazon support is unresponsive, and the only solution that they are able to provide is to keep rolling the dice. As you can see from the photo, my first unit had a reversed electrolytic capacitor in the power supply. I had a second unit which would display the "can't read disk" error 3/4 of the time. This would occur with all CDs, old and new - all of these CDs played just fine in my other The support team at Marantz did not respond to my email almost 2 weeks ago. Since I thought they would be of little help, I dug in to find more information As soon as I got in, I fixed it. My laser level had to be adjusted for the issue to be resolved. Needless to say, these issues shouldn't be present in a new unit at a price point like this. It would have made more sense to purchase a different brand if I had known.
A Marantz CD player replaced an old cd player in my house. My expectations weren't too high for sonic improvements that would change the game. As far as sound quality is concerned, I thought my old player looked great. There is nothing left for me to say but This CD player has given new life to my music collection and to my sound system.
