A SONOS ARC WAS REPLACED WITH A BOSE 700 SOUNDBAR AND BASS MODULE. Before purchasing a new soundbar, I read numerous reviews and videos comparing the Sonos Arc and the Bose 700, with the majority of reviews and videos claiming the Sonos Arc to be the winner. They are not to be trusted. The Bose 700 Soundbar is the clear winner even without the use of a Bass Module. The sound is far clearer than Sonus ARC when watching TV at low volume. br>I called Bose Support on a Saturday for assistance connecting the remote to my cable box, and I was pleasantly surprised. I was able to get them on the phone in less than 5 minutes. I have never called a business during a pandemic and been able to reach someone so quickly. Support Agent, who was based in the United Kingdom, was pleasant and knowledgeable beyond my wildest expectations, offering listening tips and tricks as well. I called Sonos Support on a Saturday and got a recording saying they are closed on Saturday and Sunday. br>Kudos to Bose Support. There's nothing more frustrating than spending upwards of $1000 on a soundbar and discovering that Support is closed. br>THE RESULTS: br>THE RESULTS: br>FIN BOSE HAS BY FAR A BETTER APPEARANCE THAN SONOS ARC. br>BOSE IS BY FAR BETTER SOUNDING THAN SONOS ARCbr>BOSE HAS BETTER APP THAN SONOSbr>BOSE HAS BETTER SUPPORT THAN SONOS ARCbr>BOSE WINS EVEN WITHOUT DOLBY ATMOSbr>br>FINALLY, IF YOUR TV IS ON A STAND AND THE SONOS ARC IS IN FRONT OF THE TV, IT APART FROM BEING UGLY, THE SONOS ARC IS TOO TALL. br>YET ANOTHER WIN FOR BOSE. I'M EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH IT.
I've been on a bit of a quest recently to find a soundbar that meets my requirements. I ended up in Bose as a result of my journey. In my home, I have other Bose soundbars, though they are not as expensive as this one. I usually like them, and Bose has a good reputation, so I decided to go for broke. Let me just get right to the point. br>br>Let me get right to the point. This item is not worth the $1,300 price tag. My biggest gripe is that this does not support lossless audio at all, which is entirely my fault for not doing my homework. AT ALL. It only supports lossy Dolby Digital or DTS, assuming your TV supports those formats (mine does not). br>br>At this price point, that omission is a deal breaker. Although the sound stage is large and loud, it is completely unrefined. The dialogue is difficult to understand, the tone is muddy, and turning up the volume only exacerbates the problem. Because I find the speaker to sound tinny and distorted at higher volumes, I frequently watched movies at a much lower volume than I normally would. Furthermore, if you don't purchase the bass module, which I did as part of the bundle, things get even worse, as the soundbar has virtually no bass presence on its own. br>br>Saving money is a good thing to do.
I bought this to replace a 20-year-old Bose Lifestyle system that had reached the end of its useful life; I considered buying a Lifestyle, but chose this because of its simplicity and newer electronics (e. g. , Bluetooth). , for improved AirPlay and Alexa/Google). With just the Soundbar and Bass, the sound quality is fantastic. Though the separation isn't quite as good as the Lifestyle it replaced (I had my side speakers hung on opposite sides of the room), it's a close second - Especially when the volume is turned up. The more concentrated sound, on the other hand, is far superior to my Lifestyle for watching television. br>br>I use this on a daily basis to stream music and radio from my Apple devices to this and a few other small Bose airplay-compatible speakers. Other rooms have speakers set up. It works perfectly and creates a unified soundscape in my home.
Once connected, the sound system performs as expected of a Bose product; however, the sound takes longer to turn on than the TV image. br>br>It's difficult to set up and link the bass module. I'm a techie, so I had to watch online videos and try out the remote and bass module several times before I liked them.
This is an effective method. The only issue is that you must download an app in order for the sub to work with the soundbar.
Bumps.
I wasn't ready to deal with the system's weight (I'm 72 years old and weigh 88 pounds). I sent my husband to the guest bedroom to open the boxes after they were wrestled inside, wrapped, and ribboned. I simply couldn't get them to move. The sound quality is excellent, so that was the only drawback. The dimensions are slim and unobtrusive.
The sound is very clear, and it syncs with my Amazon Music library.
