Questions & Answers

Does this differ from the Scout offered by foreflight?

A GPS or AHRS is not included in Scout. A dual band reception and message caching feature also comes with the Stratux. To see a comparison of Scout's flight tests, check out the first review on Amazon.

What is the AHR system for this product?

It is not clear if this will answer your question, but for ForeFlight (Basic Plus), attitude information requires the synthetic vision subscription With ForeFlight, GPS heading, ground speed, and altitude can be viewed in the "glass cockpit presentation" (i.e. Display of primary flight data). Additionally, the basic AHRS information is available within the software program that lets you set up or monitor your tower (available in the It is my hope that you find this useful.

Can we expect the suction cup mount to be ?

The last one I got was from crew dog. The mounts did not come with it, unfortunately.

If I do not collide with myself, how can I alert foreflight? Is the device really amazing, yet the device thinks I am following myself and about to collide with me?

My computer has that problem all the time, but support told me it was just a common problem they couldn't

The product is excellent and the customer service is awesome
5/5

I was a bit skeptical about the The development of Stratux involves a lot of work Since it was a do-it-yourself kit, I took a bit of a gamble by purchasing from such an unknown company. Yet I ordered it anyway, figuring that, at the very least, if it didn't work, there is a pretty good return policy on Amazon. The battery pack showed up, was charged, and I was able to use it. I could not get the device to sync with my iPad. There seemed to be no hope. In the end, I tried calling the number listed on the instructions sheet to see if I could fix it. A voicemail message is sent immediately. During the time it took me to look over Amazon's return policies, I received It's a great job being done by the guy who makes these! Served as both a pilot and an instructor for both the military and civilian sector. He loves aviation so much! My question was answered over the telephone and I was able to figure it out. I love this thing, it works great! It is highly recommended that you purchase His motivation is more to enjoy the activity than to earn a great deal of A good use of cash.

You absolutely have to have this if you travel frequently
5/5

EARLY is the best time to see and avoid. I can't say enough good things about this product. pilot with a CFI's license, whose duty roster covers some of the busiest airspace in the U. S. (Dallas, Ft. give enough credit to how many times the Stratux has prevented traffic for me and my students. In the first place, let's discuss the price. Whether you're on a budget or not, the Stratux offers the best value, It hurts to fly, so why would you want to spend $500 or more on something when you can get all the features you need (traffic, weather, AHRS) for a fraction of the price of a Scout, Sentry, or Stratus? As far as connectivity goes, I've never had a problem with the Stratux and ForeFlight. In the past, I have had an issue with the SD card, but I contacted Sean (Stratux customer service), and he resolved the issue in the most expedient manner, which is hard to find these days, and I haven't had any more Despite the fact that I have flown for hours on end in the Texas summer heat and the cold and have experienced no issues. The external battery usually powers the unit throughout the entire flight day, but I purchased a second, in case of emergency. Stratux is the type of device that gives peace of mind and safety to anyone. I refuse to fly without my Stratux, even though there is no substitute for visually scanning aircraft. It has provided me with a huge level of situational awareness, and I will never be without it. It is recommended to add another $10 to get the CO2CREA Hard Travel Case, in which to carry the unit in order to reduce wear and tear on the Stratux.

Thanks for the excellent customer support! As a result of initial issues I thought were due to Stratux, no exaggeration, Sean from Crew Dog Electronics contacted me within one hour of my initial inquiry
5/5

I am completely honest with you because it has been over 30 days (almost 2 months) since I purchased the Stratux, I had never even considered getting a resolution from Crew Dog Electronics. As a result, I assumed I was on my own for any 'issues' I had with the Stratux. My mistake, however, was very serious. Sean at CDE was quick to assess the situation, even as far as this early stage was concerned. The loss of GPS signal I have been experiencing with the Statux while in flight actually occurred because the EFB platform I use, Foreflight, has been suffering from ADS-B connection loss issues with the Statux. Since they released their last update, B devices such as the Stratux and Stratus 2 have been experiencing problems. Upon reading about other people's struggles with loss of GPS signal with an ADS-B, I believe that I am by no means the only one dealing with this Foreflight B is the receiver that is used alongside it. There is no doubt that this is a Foreflight issue, and not a Stratux issue, and as a result, some of these folks with similar issues are looking for other EFB platforms, and there is nothing wrong with that. That being said, about two months later Sean at Crew Dog Electronics offered to inspect, repair, or replace my Stratux at no cost should there be an actual problem with the internal GPS, and of course is dealing with the loose antenna connection I mentioned in my initial review as well. As a matter of fact, I was quite After having talked with Sean several times regarding this issue via email in the past 24 hours, it is quite evident that he stands by his product, is genuinely passionate about bringing a quality product to the market and addressed any potential issues regarding it shortly after they arose. This type of customer service is unbearably hard to beat, particularly if the alternative will cost you around I have received an update After receiving the unit back from Crew Dog Electronics a few days ago, I finally had the opportunity to fly the unit yesterday. It performed perfectly as advertised. As an aside, ForeFlight also released an update in the time that the unit was with Crew Dogs Electronics, apparently in response to several complaints of signal loss, and it turns out that not a single issue has related to the update since then. Crew Dogs Electronics even included a new mount for the Stratux, which was installed on the airplane without a hitch, since it fits perfectly on a Cessna 152, aka the flying lawnmower. Having used Crew Dogs Electronics for many years, I want to stress how professional they are and how they are on top of their game. Thanks a lot.

There is a good word that AHRS works fine on most EFBs
5/5

It was ordered as early as possible before a long VFR trip My 182 took me on a country trip that I had not planned. A stratux model seemed like a good option, so I planned on making my own. In the end, I ordered this assembled unit since there was no time left. Has all the features the STRATUS has, except for the AHRS, which is a bit jumpy. The folks and Mr. Young should have that under control in no time at all. There is a good word that AHRS works fine on most EFBs. I found the inflight graphic radar and current countrywide METAR very useful while avoiding weather for 1600 nautical You may be right, it's only 5 o'clock It would be OK to keep it 50 miles away, as long as it's at least 15 minutes old. The system is as good as FIS Getting B is possible. There are no language requirements for the As far as real-time traffic awareness goes, I found B fairly close to it. My trip was much more convenient and safe after I purchased this unit as I was able to change my plans during flight to avoid bad I only had one issue, as the GPS antenna was problematic, but Foreflight didn't have any problem using my old XGPS150a bluetoothed for GPS and my As soon as I contacted the manufacturer, they immediately sent me a new GPS module, which works perfectly. Overall, it is a STRATUX that is far less DIY and much more plug and play. I did not have the time to do it myself, so it was worth the extra $100 to me. It was a great experience working with the manufacturer.
