The fact that it worked was the most important factor. That makes me extremely happy. I learned how to do it by watching a YouTube video. And I spent about $40 on supplies in the end - such as goo-gone, clamps, and a magnetic work surface I didn't need all of that, but I wanted a good setup to do it in. I worked on the repair for about 4 hours total. There will be plenty of opportunity to remove the old glass. I didn't use 99% of the tools in the tool kit - A thin scraper and pointy tweezers were all that was required. However, I already had a small screwdriver kit and a couple of microfiber cloths on hand. It would not have worked without the heat gun I had leftover from another project, and I noticed in one of the videos that the guy was using a heat mat. That appeared to be a great deal, but I couldn't justify the cost. So, the most important advantage was that it worked! Negatives include the following: br>br> br>* Adhesive strength isn't excessive - is making an appearance now and then. I wish I'd smeared some superglue all over the place. br>* Cost: I have no idea what I got for $70 - Similar kits are now available for $25 on Amazon. It's possible that it's better than the low-cost options. However, I'm not sure if that's the case - There's no way to compare it to anything else.
It works, but here's something no one tells you: br>1) It's a three-step process to replace the iPad screen on your own. 6 hour processbr>2) you will most likely break the new screen in the processbr>3) there is a reason why the Apple Store asks for a large sum of money to replace your screen rather than simply handing you a new devicebr>I spent about four hours replacing a broken screen. Replacing an iPad screen is about an 8 on a scale of 1 to 10 in terms of difficulty. It does not necessitate a high level of intelligence, but it does necessitate a great deal of patience, perseverance, and creativity. br>Removing the old screen and cleaning the iPad structure for proper adhesion accounts for half of the work. The other half of the job entails reassembling everything. br>For me, after spending 4 hours making sure everything was in order, which it was, the screen unexpectedly cracked while I was pressing around the edges to ensure proper adhesion. I'm not sure if this is a mistake on my part (based on everything I've read online), a defect in the new screen, or a defect in the iPad frame. br>The bottom line is that I'm not sure what my problem is, but I can say that the product works for me. If you're willing to put up with the hassle, go ahead and buy it all- you- I understand the need for a package, but I believe purchasing a new iPad is a better option.
Just a quick note - You might get lucky or unlucky with the quality (I didn't). br>This is the second Amazon screen I've tried, and my faith in these less expensive screens is fading. br>Previous one (sold by a different person) - The adhesive was terrible; it didn't stick well and eventually caused cable damage, necessitating a replacement. Now I'm trying out a new business - this one. I also purchased some glue. however. (see - )br>Final Thoughts: br> for a relatively low pricebr> you get everything you need (except glue)br>- -br>-br>-br>-br>-br>-b LOW QUALITY PRODUCT (AS SHOWN IN PHOTO) - It appears that the size was manufactured incorrectly, leaving a bit of space = unacceptablebr>- additional glue is required – I glued this time, but because of the screen defect, I may have to replace it again - It was too narrow to add glue on the right side, and the "cables" were strewn about.
- The seller considers me to be a moronbr>- If the quality is poor, the total cost may end up being the same as purchasing more expensive but higher quality products. br>br>So, in general, pay more for products that have a strong following. It will probably cost the same in the end, but you will save time.
I spent two hours cleaning the old screen, removing all residue and broken glass. As I removed the old home button and the shards of glass around it, I cleaned all old residue only to realize as I began to re-install it that I had a lot of damage and shards of glass at the edges and around it. Assemble and transfer the home button; the new screen does not have any adhesive to reattach the old home button. Now I'm frantically searching Amazon for replacement home button adhesive so I can reassemble my iPad, but until the adhesive arrives, my iPad will be in pieces. I'm extremely disappointed! Edit. br>br> After purchasing some 3M double-sided tape, 3M Primer 94, and a CAT Palm B- I was able to properly relocate the home button and secure it to the underside of the replacement touch screen using 7000 electronic adhesive. The screen looks great, but I still wish that this screen replacement had included all of the necessary adhesives. Due to the lack of a complete kit, I am deducting one star, but I am pleased with the final results.
It wasn't nearly as bad as some reviewers claimed. My screen was completely shattered, and it took me about 20 minutes to remove it using a hair dryer and tools. To prevent damaging the ribbon cable near the home button, work slowly. To pick up the small shards of glass, I found that having a strip and duct tape came in handy. br>br>If the prospect of this DIY intimidates you, watch YouTube tutorials several times and don't be afraid to go back and review them. It took me an hour in total. This is something you can handle.
But it was well worth the money. The tools are extremely beneficial and simple to operate. The image quality on the screen is not as good as it was on the original. One side cracked again when I tried to push down the edges in the final step. I wish there was some kind of glue around the home button to keep the home touch function in place. I get what I expected for the price, so I don't have any complaints; instead, I have a few suggestions.
You'll be wasting both time and money. I work in a repair shop, and I can assure you that if you aren't, you won't know whether the issue is with you or with the product. It's with the product. The connectors are flimsy and garbage. Your screen will sway back and forth. They do not connect properly, despite the fact that they are high-quality screens. These aren't good screens.
I wish I'd noticed this when I was looking for the Home Screen button. I was fortunate enough to be able to save the old button from the broken screen I had. I liked the fact that the adhesion was already there. It's a lot easier than applying your own adhesive.
