The HP Elite USB device I got from my work was not up to the task It's no longer possible to use the C dock. Whenever I connected my second HDMI monitor, it would disconnect randomly every 15 minutes or so The session lasts for 20 minutes. All the devices I am working on are reset my laptop was reset to its default settings. All of the items would have to be rearranged to where I wanted them to be. My work flow was disrupted ten times or more every day because of this. A 16 dollar device has been working for 4 days straight without flickering as the HDMI monitor attached to it has been for 4 days straight. Besides that, I haven't used the Ethernet or card reader features, because I do not need them. Its main purpose is to provide a second HDMI output. Unlike the HP product, it does the task flawlessly, much better than the 100+ dollar model.

(You should upgrade your power supply, I previously bought another hub that did not work with the Google TV Chromecast. I was happy to discover that this product has the ability to work with Chromecast. While the pandemic was in progress, I was able to use the program to add a web camera (so that I could use Google Duo) to video chat with my family. The Chromecast now comes with a USB memory stick that allows you to expand its memory (so you can install more than 2 or 3 additional apps). This receiver also includes an Ethernet port to be able to connect directly to the internet via Chromecast.
This works with the power supply that comes with the chromecast (but only to power it). In order for the chromecast to work as well as the camera, USB stick, a larger power supply is needed. It's a great unit for gaming, watching movies, etc at the same time. With the aluminum case, I haven't noticed any heat dissipation issues. If you put it in a drawer, make sure there is enough airflow around it (don't shove it in there).

Simple operation makes it a very easy device The reason I bought the covid is because we are still working from home due to the covid policy. In my experience, people who travel for work purposes are more likely to have this issue. It is easy to carry around because it is so small and light that you can fit it into a purse, pocket or in your hand, in addition to having other ports to plug in your keyboard, mouse, usb fan, or even to set up a second monitor via USB. In case anyone is curious, this is how my work at home system is set up. Getting the USB portion of the device to work was as simple as plugging it into the HP laptop provided by my job and then plugging it into All I had to do was plug in an Ethernet cable and bam! All operations are running smoothly without any issues or interruptions. I appreciate that it is easy to set up, for those like me who dislike complicated setups.

Onto the good stuff. I like the slim design and high quality feel of this device. I like how sturdy and well-made the metal and plastic are. It does get warm when used, but never near dangerous levels and I never have a concern about it becoming too hot. Overall, it looks and feels like a quality product. The fact that there is no power light is quite appealing to me, though there is a fairly bright green network status light when Ethernet is plugged in. The main reason I use this is to connect a MacBook Air to an external hard drive via USB, a 1080p monitor via HDMI, and a network via Ethernet. I tested the USB ports and the SD card slot and they all I give it two stars because of its high build quality and functional ports. Sadly, that's all the good news I have to report. Unusable because it causes kernel panics, this patch is not ready yet. I am plugged in to my computer - If a computer is plugged into this hub and left to sleep for a long time, it frequently crashes and restarts when woken. Usually it will happen if the computer has been left to sleep for a long time, though sometimes I will get it even if I wake it with the built-in keyboard or trackpad. It also happens if I use a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse, as well. In addition, this doesn't happen when I'm using a different USB-connected peripheral but all the same connections and peripherals A hub with a C interface.
