Questions & Answers

Due to the fact they each have a switch, does this mean you can just turn them off without doing an "eject" or "safely remove" procedure?

you have to use the Windows Option to remove the drive safely is that when you do so, Windows has a chance to close any File Pointers that are still active. Alternatively, you can leave the drive running unplugged for a while, but that increases the possibility that the file(s) will be locked and/or corrupted the next time it Here's the deal. Before hitting the power switch on the hub, it is recommended that you remove the drive safely. As a result, I lost a lot of data, not to mention the fact that I accidentally deleted it when I was lazy. I have this hub and access 1 4TB drive, 2 5TB drives and one 8TB drive over it. There is only one good reason to have switches on a hub, and that is so that the drives can be turned off when they aren't Hopefully, we can save a bit of space on the hard drive. Lance

Plugging it into a 2 would result in an error. When I have no USB port on my CPU, can I still make my CPU benefit from What do you mean "0 speed?" Does it seem like it's time for me to update my motherboard? Thanks! ?

There is no. It is in the nature of USB devices not to be able to communicate with one another. The host computer is the hub of all communication. There are three in all. The hub is connected to a 2 and shares 0 devices. The 0th computer will be connected to the 2th computer. It runs at 0 mph.

Two external hard drives are connected to my computer A 500 GB drive is one, and a 2 TB drive is another. There are two separate power cords for each. Is this hub going to be used by them?

They will all work fine, I have a 3 tb WD drive, a 2 tb Fatom drive, and a 1 tb HP drive, both worked great and any thumb drives I plugged in synced instantly. The thumb drives that are usb 2 are not all the same. No problem, you're good to go

It was great to get a new one! Although it lights up, this keyboard will not work with this device
5/5

I tried connecting my USB to Ethernet cable to it, but no luck. There's no way to work with it. I have a keyboard that can only handle 500mA of consumption, but it says it can handle 900mA. This hub is actually USB 2. I got a dud hub or my mouse consumes only 100mA, so either it's a dud or it's USB 2. A power supply that can handle only 500mA is the 0 series. In either case, I believe they are being dishonest in their advertising. It is no use to have a USB hub where you can only plug in one device. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. I will get back to you as soon as possible.

It is a good hub for USB 3
4/5

The following minor issues need to be addressed A USB 3 hub that seems pretty solid, to be honest. The fact that you can switch power on and off for each port is very convenient.
Be aware that plugging in a new high power or data device may briefly pause another port. A portable hard drive, for instance, caused my audio interface that was plugged into a different port to briefly disconnect, then reconnect, when I pushed the power button connected to this hard drive. The devices were then connected and appeared to work fine. Though, it appears there is a problem with high power devices affecting the Other than that, it's a good piece of equipment with a lot.

Drives dismount at random when connected to the hub
3/5

Dismounting drives is randomly triggered when you have junk in your hub. A few minutes after I started the encode, I heard different tones from next room. During the encode, I heard the Windows hardware disconnect tone followed by an error tone. My encoding software was freezing when I arrived in the room and had threw a File I/O error. As a result of forcing the closing and restarting of the software, I found the associated files had been damaged. My first thought was that the encoding was having a software issue, so I moved on to the next file and reran it. When I was working in the same room and noticed the external hard drive disappearing from "Computer," I listened to the hardware disconnect tone, which was followed by the same File I/O Error message. Eventually, the drive reappeared, however the files once again became corrupt. As a result, I removed the hub and connected just the drive I needed to the PC on this point while continuing the encode. The encode has now been running smoothly for an hour. The hub never caused any issues before I installed it, and it hasn't caused any problems since I removed it. This seems to be a common issue with this hub, which is usually helped by moving it at some point in the past, but mine was not touched at the time the issue arose. DO NOT TRUST IT FOR DATA TRANSFERS! I am returning it.

The overall quality of the product is poor
3/5

There is a critical flaw in this hub, as yet another reviewer explained When you move the cord even the tiniest bit, it will interrupt the flow of data/power to other devices, so you'll have to reconnect them. This is worse than what I thought it would be. Power switches are located on each port, one for every The only way you should use them is when all USB devices are connected, all power switches are on, and everything is left in that state while booting. Any time you press any of the power buttons to send power to another device, you will disconnect the one that is You will bump the power cable as if you had bumped the I would have been able to use this hub at least if Sabrent had not included the power switches. Although they were not malfunctioning, I doubt they would have worked for very long even if they had worked properly. There is an obvious cheapness in the construction. When I took it out of the box, I had an immediate vision of the junk they give away at the state fair, or the "toy surprise" that used to come with Cracker Jack It was certainly a pleasant surprise to stumble upon this hub.
To Although I have owned quite a number of hubs, this is the poorest quality out of probably a dozen, but it is also the least expensive. And other reviews suggest it may work for some people. Depending on whether you don't plan to use the switches and don't bump the cable, you might be lucky. Although, of course, the switches were what prompted me to purchase wanted to skip the hassle of physically attaching and disconnecting the USB drives, but instead rely on switches to select the drives as needed. It's quite easy for me to do with two other computers and two other hubs that contain switches as well. Due to its low price, I took a chance on this one, and for what I paid, I won't bother returning I'm going to toss it as soon as I'm done reviewing it since I'm not comfortable giving it.

When I needed access to four USB ports for a conference of 3,000 people, I had only 3 USB ports on my laptop
3/5

I used Cat5 cables and boosters to reach the four additional USB ports. I am pleased to report that right away, everything was operational after being tested (as can be seen in picture 1). When it was time to put the device in live use on the second day, the top four USB docking stations all went dead upon powering up the device (again, as shown in the photograph). The matter was compounded by the fact that the three USBs that worked were not In summary, I unplugged and powered off both the docking station and my laptop, and then cold booted it. No changes were made after restarting everything. When I was in a hurry, I ran to Best Buy and got a small Insignia 4-inch touch screen This docking station is located at the port. This Sabrent product disappointed me to say the least, so I returned it. The Insignia docking station worked fine.
