Are there any cable-free models that do not come with an external power source and could be powered from a wall outlet with a USB plug?

People may not know that some devices require a powered USB hub when using USB. It's not that this hub does not require external power, it's simply that it does not offer it as an option, so fewer devices can be connected to it.

Can it be charged quickly with an Apple charging cable? Does it work well with Apple charging cables?

Charges my devices fine. It is not a fast charger though. Although I am able to charge my android watch, my Fitbit, and my Logitech gaming headset all at the same time, they all charge just fine.

Is this compatible with the Microsoft Surface 3 so I can use my mouse and ?

You need to be careful
4/5

It was the reviews it had and the fact that Anker is pretty big on Amazon that influenced me to buy this USB hub. Having bought it for work, I received a melting product in two days. It didn't injure my work computer, which I am thankful for. This hub may not have been grounded properly due to a lack of quality control. There are one or two peripherals plugged in. It is the last Anker product I will ever buy. We are going to stick with the better known brands and spend a little more. EDIT OR REPLACE contacted me immediately and took the time to investigate the issue properly. Their goal was to troubleshoot and control the quality of the bad hub. New ones have been sent to me. No problems with the new one since I've had it for a few months. It was a pleasure working with the customer service team at Anker.

Do not buy it for your own safety

The attached picture provides a better understanding of what I mean. I would not recommend this product after only three months of use. The middle part of the product burned through after about three months.

The customer service team ensured I received a working product and provided me with prompt, helpful assistance! You've gone from one star to five! BELOW IS AN UPDATE TO THE In this case, the product does not function correctly
5/5

In the event that the port plug is not perfectly straight, it immediately disconnects! A slight touch or bump to the port will cause it to unplug! As I am not able to return it, I am going to throw this hub into the trash. I have no other issues with my laptop's usb ports when I use them with any other device. Update (
It is hard to express how thorough Anker was in making sure I had a working product! They contacted me directly after I posted this review to ask for a new port, which I agreed to and in my next email told them I was not at that address anymore When I travel for business, I am in a hurry. I sent an email after the product had already been sent out, and they re-sent it This is the second port to be sent The excellent customer service of this company did not let me down even when my travels took me elsewhere, which made my scheduled return late Review of the new port by the company. It works as expected and does not disrupt the power when I have 4 devices plugged into it at once A total of 0 hard disk drives are connected and are operating. You cannot accidentally disconnect your harddrive if you bump the USB ports as they are snugly fitting. Anker is a company I will continue to buy products from because I know if anything goes wrong, there is an amazing company standing behind the products that will make it.

A non-power supply model is delivered if you don't order the model with a power supply It is powered by a It appears that there are two models that are As far as Anker products are concerned, I enjoy using this hub
4/5

As a result, I must deduct 1 star for variances in the models that I cannot see in their listings (as far as I can tell) or see in their images. The hub that comes with a power adapter costs two times as much as the one that does not Connect the power adapter to the wall Model included in the package and is NOT the same as the power-up model It is included as a Those who are not Most of the power adapter models do not have an additional power hole to power the hub (to operate USB devices such as There are no pictures of this omission and I am not aware of any written mention of it. Having said that, I do regret the fact that this is a great hub and the company seems to make high-quality items, just not mentioning that the item does not contain the ability to recharge It is not necessary for many USB devices to be able to be powered by a hub. It is not necessary to use the power adapter on 90% of the USB items I use, don't get me wrong. The hub works fine without it. Some items need power, however, and one of their models is not capable of adding supplemental power in case it is The powered model has also been amazing, as Anker has also done another AMAZING thing with it. This is an improvement over an older barrel connector (which was bound to be dropped at some point) Anker bought a MICRO-USB connector Power can be added to their hub by using a USB connector. In other words, it means that if you lose the power cable, you can power this hub by using any Samsung/Android charger that you have. The notion of eliminating semi-finished goods is BESIDES INCREDIBLE, and I wish more manufacturers would turn away from them Stay away from proprietary power connections and use industry-standard ones Cables for powering USB devices and other low-power devices USB hubs, such as this one, operate on voltage.

Make Certain You Only Draw a Limited Amount of Current You can read the review here
5/5

This unit is very light, compact, and well built A USB 3. 0 device can handle 900mA, which is comparable to what a USB 2. 0 device can handle. It is not possible to supply from Port 0 If you have USB 2, please let me know. In this 0 port hub, be careful to ensure that the total current draw of all devices plugged into it does not exceed 500 mA On page 6 of the chart, there is a chart of a few common devices, but you can directly check how much current a device is drawing by going to The Control Panel is the home page of this program You are here The Device Manager allows you to view devices on your network You are here Controllers that are compatible with the Universal Serial Bus You are here To select the port or hub, click on the drop-down menu You are here You can find the Power tab under the Tools menu. If you select a few, you may have to narrow them down before you can find the one you'd like. As I selected the first "Generic Port", I was presented with a list of the connected devices It's also 100 mA for the wireless mouse receiver as well as 100 mA for the wireless Another video card is connected to another port by itself, it is showing 500 milliamps. While it is supported by 900 mA, keep this in mind. Your computer has USB 2 ports if it has them. The hub only has 1 port, so you can plug in up to 500 mA in devices. but if you have a different OS, the method of examining the ports may vary. had the laptop on a shelf and the wireless mouse did not work When the receiver is connected to the hub and the hub is hanging on its 6" cable, the receiver is now 10" closer to the mouse and it is working perfectly.

Cons It requires 900 mA of maximum power (0) or USB 3 . I think the number 0) would have been a very appropriate selling point in the purchase.
