Amazon asked or stated what you would like to know before purchasing the product, which I already knew. I have dealt with Amazon several times and could not be happier with the entire operation.
SmartMedia is available under a variety of brand names. SmartMedia from Olympus can be used to create "panorama" shots. Basically, you take several shots while ensuring that the edges overlap. The "Camedia" software that came with your Olympus camera is then used to reassemble these multiple shots. The difference is that when you use an Olympus SmartMedia card, your digital camera maintains the same exposure settings throughout these multiple shots. When you reassemble the individual shots on your computer, you'll end up with a consistent panorama. br>This is a nice feature, but it's not one that many of us use. If you're buying a lot of SmartMedia cards, you might be able to get by with just one or two Olympus cards. Especially considering how much more expensive they are compared to other brands. I use two 32MB other brand cards and save my two 8MB Olympus brand cards for when there are panorama shots (since the cards can be swapped out at any time - in contrast to conventional camera film).
Purchase two Scandisk 16mb cards instead of one Olympus 16mb card.
br>I was very pleased with these cards in general. So far, they've stood up to the abuse I've given them. It's comforting to know that they have a 5-year guarantee in case anything goes wrong. br>For data transfer, I would definitely purchase a floppy or USB reader.
