I use a wide angle lens on my Canon 5D MKII to take photos. These cards have a nice layout. To be honest, I don't recall why I bought them, but I believe it was because their write speed exceeded the camera's specifications. I don't use one of the two I bought very often because I keep my projects separated on the other. I'll respond to the individual. The 5d mkii can only hold one CF card.
The way you save in one mode may differ from how you save in another. The most popular image formats are raw and JPEG. RAW files are around 1000 dollars for Canon.
There is no software in place to protect files. I use this for my Canon 7 D Mark II camera, so I let it format and protect my files.
The Canon XF100, XF200, and XF305 video cameras can store data on a CF card. These cameras will be able to make normal use of the card. I'm not sure about the other models, but that's how the XF200 operates. I only use Sony video cameras, and they only shoot to SD cards. My favorite memory cards are Compact Flash cards, which I use in my professional DSLR. As far as I can tell, yes is the answer to your question.

Drey- I almost panicked when I realized I'd forgotten one, but they might arrive in different containers. For a number of RAW format photoshoots, it performed admirably.
