The main reason for your attention will need to look at the monitor in mind since the surface 3 can display mini pictures. Is it possible to connect via vidia?? In my case, it worked just fine.
Having only succeeded in connecting a mini display port to a nd to connect a mini display port source to a vga reciever. Therefore, my view is that it won't actually work to turn the surface into an extra monitor for another PC. While an external monitor may be required, there would need to be an obstruction in order to connect it.

My favorite part about this job is the long hours. My 2012 MacBook's HDMI output can be connected to an epson 705hd projector with these instructions. This works just fine. You can view the full screen in just a few seconds with this plug-in. Furthermore, I watched it on my TV as well. It's really working. I just plugged in RGB input and the TV now measures upwards of 35 inches. Woo! Also, it worked when I used it with HDMI. You might use this at some point in the future as a backup.
During the planning of my new tablet I purchased this so that I could use it as a third input device. I installed it on my old Acer 27" monitor today and the results are working. There is no audio associated with a VGA cable, as opposed to HDMI.
My friend told me the video is connecting via the "thunderbolt" network on the monitor, and I purchased one for HDMI. In the beginning of this laptop, HDMI did not work at all because HDMI wasn't part of the design. I was able to install one monitor via HDMI, which I didn't have any other external monitor with me. A HDMI connection is required. While attempting to connect the second monitor to a miniDP port, I found I was unable to do so. But HDMI was not found to work - was it HDMI but found out that doesn't work. Nevertheless, this MiniDP- would be much more useful. What do you think about working with VGA uch worked perfectly! The fact that I can use dual monitors is very nice to have. cons: I find it a bit ironic that two monitor cables come out of the laptop and obviously don't have HDMI picture quality. My laptop only mirrors its screen through the external monitor connected via VGA. I cannot get three consecutive unique screens from Apple. Since all I were hoping for and expected was two screens (in extended display mode), it shouldn't be described in that way.

One point which does not display any video. Coming back after a mini vacation. Using this cable, it could not display video from a laptop to an VGA monitor. Although the monitor was recognized by the system (Win10), I find the cable unable to make this work in such cases.
