The product might not seem durable considering you have to guide the pins into the adapter and ensure all the pins line up before the device will work. However, I have several fairly old hard drives (1990s) I need to review to determine if any files can be extracted. The only thing you have to do is make sure that they are oriented correctly before pressing the adapter into the pins. As soon as you use it, you will find that it is easy to use. It is what it is advertised to be. A complete set of adapters for connectivity to common drives and devices. At this price point you shouldn't expect anything better than this. Materials and build quality are good. There seemed to be a little vagueness or generalization in the instructions, but I have no previous experience as I have never worked with this type of device before. In fact, instructions seem to imply that the process is more automatic than it actually In order to recover files from a laptop hard drive that had failed, I had to extract them. After finding out the issue and recovering my files, I was able to get them back. You can also use it to transfer files from one drive to another (a backup). Several videos were posted on You Tube on how to use this and similar devices before I attempted to use this. You should be able to use this adapter, if you've ever transferred or backed up files, with little or no issues. However, if you're rather like me, a novice, you will still be able to get satisfactory results with a little research beforehand.

A laptop that my mom owned crashed and burned, so she had to replace it. There were several pictures and files on her old computer that she wanted to save, but when she tried to start the laptop, nothing happened. My friend and I took her laptop to three local computer chains and were quoted a price of about $100. She paid the company $200 to get rid of her old laptop's files. We were not sure if it was worth the time to figure out what files were in there or what she needed to keep, so we didn't know if it was worth it to check for necessities. Because her laptop was old, most other adapters did not have the correct pin configuration to connect to her hard drive. Fortunately, this one did. Using her laptop, I was able to attach her hard drive. The adapter provided the power needed to power the hard drive, and I was able to browse through her files to find any documents she might require or want to save.
