Using the USB3SSATAIDE, you can connect up to two devices at once. It measures 5 inches by 3 inches. You can install SATA and IDE drives using the 5in interface. As soon as I first tried using this, I experienced the same issue. The computer should be turned Disconnect the StarTech adapter from the power source. Connect the StarTech USB cable to your computer and disconnect it. Power on your computer and make sure all cables from the StarTech device are connected to your IDE drive. I was able to do this by turning on my StarTech device first, then plugging the StarTech USB connector into my computer's USB port once my computer had fully booted up. Windows XP Service Pack 3 is the operating system I have
An ATAPI interface is also called an IDE interface. This is most likely compatible if the Zip drive was mounted inside the computer case. See if there is a photo or diagram of an IDE connector attached to your Zipdrive, and see if that matches yours.

Compared to cheaper adapters, this one is much higher quality. A second-hand hard drive that I bought to copy data from an old IDE hard drive was used for the purpose. As far as that use case was concerned, it worked perfectly. Although I have no doubt that it would also work well with SATA drives, I have not tested it for this purpose. Here is what I suggest customers do if they have trouble with this product. As a result of difficulties I sometimes had using an old generic IDE/SATA to USB adapter, these recommendations were developed If there's a hard drive there, you'll hear it spin up (unless, of course, it's a flash drive). 4) Plug in your wall wart, plug the power adapter into the wall wart, and connect the power adapter to the hard drive. You can connect the adapter's USB plug to your computer by 4). Now that you have installed a new hard drive, your computer should show it. In this phase, you should be able to use the removable drive just as you would any other USB drive. After you have finished, you can disconnect the USB port from your computer, turn it off, and disconnect power and the adapter from your Hard Drive.
2) I needed something to do with my old cards Because the hard disk is old and the computer has a different style of power connector, an older style power adapter may not work properly. Essentially it has the capability of connecting to both old and new power connections, as well as to old and newer SATA connectors (where the data cable plugs in to the hard drive). It suited my purposes very well. Note that I had an initial problem (failure to follow directions. can be avoided in the following manner Once the data and power cables are plugged into the hard drive, you need to plug in its power BEFORE connecting to the computer's USB port. The LED light will illuminate, showing that the drive is powered up. Once the USB cable has been plugged into the computer, it can not be unplugged. After a few seconds, you should see the drive as a new drive. piece of advice, again in general rather than specifically because there may be a problem with this drive I suggest you copy your files to or from an external drive rather than cutting and pasting them, especially if you're moving many files The advantage of this is that we will avoid any potential data corruption if there is any interruption in the data transfer for any reason (like pulling the cord or going to sleep on your computer).
The product might not seem durable considering you have to guide the pins into the adapter and ensure all the pins line up before the device will work. However, I have several fairly old hard drives (1990s) I need to review to determine if any files can be extracted. The only thing you have to do is make sure that they are oriented correctly before pressing the adapter into the pins. As soon as you use it, you will find that it is easy to use. After I thought I had lost my old documents and pictures for good, I was able to retrieve them. Your old hard drives will be much better off with this device. I read something very important and I want to share with you Be sure to connect the power strip (it has 4 prongs and supplies power to the hard drive) before you connect the USB cable to the You should hear the hard drive spinning when the power strip is plugged in. The files popped up as soon as I hooked the device up to my computer last. After finding the correct directory, I was able to extract the ones I wanted. I am very satisfied with my purchase.
Item 5. 3. I am in need of an adapter for my 5" SATA drive. It looks like the Star Tech 2 will work for me. Item 5. 3. An adapter for getting data off a desktop PC with a 5" SATA/IDE drive. My computer is using a 5" hard drive and it works My laptop appeared faster than I expected since I connected my desktop hard drive to my adapter, which was powered by a power supply. I connected all the cables in a matter of minutes and was able to access the desktop hard drive. It was extremely fast for me to transfer the data I needed to my laptop. Despite the fact that it came with a small CD containing the driver, it did not prove useful to me. * If you are cloning a 2 it comes with instructions, but the cables are self-explanatory.
If you are cloning a 5 it comes with instructions, but the cables are self-explanatory. If you have a 5" SATA hard drive, then the only component you need is the cable and not the power supply. You can get an extremely versatile adapter by spending $10 more.
It is what it is advertised to be. A complete set of adapters for connectivity to common drives and devices. At this price point you shouldn't expect anything better than this. Materials and build quality are good. There seemed to be a little vagueness or generalization in the instructions, but I have no previous experience as I have never worked with this type of device before. In fact, instructions seem to imply that the process is more automatic than it actually In order to recover files from a laptop hard drive that had failed, I had to extract them. After finding out the issue and recovering my files, I was able to get them back. You can also use it to transfer files from one drive to another (a backup). Several videos were posted on You Tube on how to use this and similar devices before I attempted to use this. You should be able to use this adapter, if you've ever transferred or backed up files, with little or no issues. However, if you're rather like me, a novice, you will still be able to get satisfactory results with a little research beforehand.
A laptop that my mom owned crashed and burned, so she had to replace it. There were several pictures and files on her old computer that she wanted to save, but when she tried to start the laptop, nothing happened. My friend and I took her laptop to three local computer chains and were quoted a price of about $100. She paid the company $200 to get rid of her old laptop's files. We were not sure if it was worth the time to figure out what files were in there or what she needed to keep, so we didn't know if it was worth it to check for necessities. As I noticed how this product had been used in stores to connect the hard drive, I went home and bought it. Because her laptop was old, most other adapters did not have the correct pin configuration to connect to her hard drive. Fortunately, this one did. Using her laptop, I was able to attach her hard drive. The adapter provided the power needed to power the hard drive, and I was able to browse through her files to find any documents she might require or want to save. In addition, the price was really low!.
