Questions & Answers
If you go with Molex to SATA, look for crimped adapters instead of molded (as molded connections can merge underneath the casing due to pressure and heat). Avoid these adapters at all costs by buying a PSU with more SATA ports. There is no alternative to this item, as it is molded.

I can never have enough of them. The power supplies on some older machines or those found in spare parts may only have one or two SATA connectors when upgraded or converted into HTPCs or NASes, so I may have to dig through my parts bins to find There are a couple of packs of these I have, and they are just as described. Assuming the fire reports are from GPU miners using SATA power risers, I presume those who are affected are GPU miners. A SATA drive has a four-channel design. The 5 amp draw design limit (54 watts on the 12 volt, far shy of the 75 watts of a PCIe connector) and the use of Molex connectors will not be enough. A SATA drive is required With so many connections to make mistakes in PCIe riser setups, it's easy. The thought of trying it makes no sense to me. you plan on using your machine for mining, either spend a little extra on a proper setup or completely ensure your GPU does not try to draw more than 54 watts on your system.
It's not my cup of tea. As a person who has been working in the computer field for years, I can honestly say that I have never encountered a problem connecting Molex to SATA cables. The connectors in these were unbelievably loose because of the plastic housing. I installed two of them this weekend and had to fight with them. This product is well below average in terms of quality control. It occurs to me I might consider returning them, if I can convince myself it will be worth the bother of having to take them out and waste gas shipping I have a correction to make The 11th century **** Changing my previous two star rating to a five star rating for 2019. My initial review was followed up by a call from Cable Matters customer service as part of its follow-up process. Besides new SATA to Molex cables, they also sent me a new pack of It was the kind of customer service I expect. They made sure it was right and I'm happy! Hopefully Cable Matters will get more business from this customer in the future. My sincerest thanks go out to.
Not a single complaint to make. The rest I have to say is not worth mentioning. a good concept. A set of adapters is specifically designed to fit into an old-style We can adapt the power connector to work with SATA drives as well as other PC-style drives. This is a 4-part series There were a lot of wobbly pins - The golden age of technical support reminded me of this problem -- I used to have to wire up stuff like this myself in the golden age- The connectors were somewhat difficult to connect when I was first trying to plug them into the extra power supplies of my PC's power supply, but once the poles were placed in the holes, the connectors fit right together, and each of them worked perfectly. With so many hard drives in my ragged PC, it is now deemed too many. On the other hand, if I wasn't supposed to use those connectors, then the power supply manufacturer shouldn't have tempted me to use them.
To add a second hard drive to my old Compaq desktop, I temporarily added a second HDD. In addition to the SATA ports on the motherboard, the power supply also had 4 pin Molex plugs. Similar adapters were used for the optical drive and original hard drive. To connect the adapter to the power supply cable, it was necessary to exert quite a bit of force. I am not sure if the problem was with the connector on the power supply or with.
Below is the new agenda for the next few days. . . As long as it performs as promised, is well made, meets or exceeds the description, is a value, and arrives in a reasonable period of time, it will receive a "star rating" according to how it exceeded my expectations. Then, if it fails to meet these criteria, I will explain the shortcomings of the product in a simple and descriptive manner so that you, the consumer, won't have to go to the trouble of buying it without understanding it well. The exact same review will be placed on the seller's feedback page if the seller pulls the item and relists it under a different description. There have been a couple of times in the past when sellers have done this, and I have kept my promise each time.
I usually try to be very honest with my reviews, but this is the first time I've been completely and totally disappointed with something. There was no working adapter for any of these devices. Each and every one of them could not connect to the Molex The items would still be returned if there was still time in the return period. Since I have found these in two decades of repairing, refurbishing, restoring, building, and repairing PCs (and the many parts I have used over that time), they are utterly less than acceptable. Do not buy from these stores and instead.
These cables are great to have around. In other words, if you have an old power supply and are in need of some sata power connectors, this 3 pack might be of service to It is strange that some manufacturers just manufacture power supply units without molex connectors or floppy cable connectors, but I guess that technology is a slow one to change. I have no problems with them.
A new system I built has four SATA hard drives and one SATA optical blue ray drive. My power supply has a molex plug and one sata plug. I needed one of these to plug in my hard drives. It was a pleasure to deal with them and the packaging was excellent. It was easy to connect the plugs because they are solid, the pins do not shift in the socket so everything went together without a hitch.
