This was a purchase for my new Lenovo P53. As of yet, I have not had a chance to test whether or not it works with a graphics card. Even so, I did have an old Network PCI-E card lying around that it was able to use. It's the distance that I think is the biggest issue. It is before it gets to the CPU or the microcontroller that it goes into slot 2. The microcontroller might also cause your other Pcie devices to slow down if it passes through. The video that went along with this explained everything very well. However, I don't recall it off the top of my head. I'll update this answer if I can recall it!

The project worked perfectly but I ran out of Pcie slots on my motherboard

Using my M, I was able to accomplish this. Adding another GPU will not be a problem through the 2 port. I showed up with no bios mods applied to the motherboard when running HIVE OS. Adding a new device is as easy as plugging it in. In addition to this, I recommend you use a riser to provide 6 pin pcie power in conjunction with it, if you are using it on a mining rig. There is no need for a separate power supply for this adapter. This adapter should be powered by your SATA cable, a riser PCIE card should be attached to it, and the riser should be powered by your 6 pin PCIE cable.
