Following an empty package the first time, a defective pen was sent

I'm so disappointed that I have to search the internet for answers with a pen that is defective right out of the box! When the pen is hovering above the tablet, it detects input and even draws and clicks without me having to do anything. I've read on the internet that this could be due to a stuck nub or a defective pen, and that the sensor in the actual pen is defective, and I'm furious that this company is allowed to defraud customers out of $20 by sending pens that don't work. If I had known that getting a replacement pen would be this difficult, I would have just bought a new tablet.
