Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use this to connect a 400 Wirefire cable to my new iMac, which only has thunderbolt and USB ports?

I've got an iMac (27-inch Retina 5K, Retina 5K, Retina 5K, Retina 5K Late 2014, inch). I also have a Canon Optura20 camcorder (at least 15 years old) that I used to use the FireWire cord to transfer my videos to my older iMac. After visiting an Apple store and speaking with Apple support, I spoke with Canon support. I ordered the elate FireWire 400 to 800 Adapter, which I can plug my Firewire cord into, then into the Apple Thunderbolt to Firewire Adapter, which can then be plugged into my iMac. I was able to download the video from my Optura 20 camcorder using that connection. Regrettably, the audio portion of the Fuji cassette recording did not download: (br>I'm back to square one, hoping to find a way to download the video as well as the audio so that I can make DVDs to give to family. br>Another option is to take the camera and cassette to a local company that can transfer the video and audio to an external hard drive. However, each cassette will set me back $25. br>I'm going to call Apple support again, but if anyone has any ideas, please share them with me: Thank you! )br> br>Nonna is a word that comes to mind when I think of the word "

Will this adapter work with a late 2009 Macbook and a 2013 Macbook Pro that don't have a firewire port but do have a USB port?

It is not going to work! To use this, you'll need a FireWire port. It is compatible with your 2013 MacBook Pro.

If possible, could someone provide a link to a method of connecting this to a USB port?

Just go to Amazon or eBay and look for a Firewire to USB adapter. But keep in mind that just because the adapters fit together doesn't mean they'll work with every device. I tried connecting a Firewire 400 iSight to a USB port, but it didn't work. However, it's not too expensive to give it a shot.

I kept my old audio interface running in the background
5/5

This adapter was purchased in conjunction with two other adapters in order to use an older Firewire 400 audio interface with a new Mac Mini. I've never had much luck using multiple adapters in series before, but this worked perfectly and did not appear to add any extra latency. It's wired into a FW800 router. A Thunderbolt 2 adapter is a device that connects a Thunderbolt 2 port to a Thunderbolt 2 port on a computer. The Mini is connected by a Thunderbolt 3 adapter. Again, I was surprised that it worked, but I'm glad it did because it saved me from having to pay a fortune for a comparable rackmount interface. I've been running it for about 6 weeks and have had no problems; highly recommended.

This is perfect for connecting older Firewire devices to newer Firewire ports
4/5

This is perfect for connecting older Firewire devices to newer Firewire ports. External iSght cameras are connected to some of my Macs by mine. br>br>The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is that they protrude a long way (nearly 2") from the Firewire port, making them easy to bang, hang on, and break. I had been using Apple's, which were identical in size, shape, and function but cost four times as much. All of my Apple adapters died as a result of sticking out and being hit too many times by accident.

It really works
5/5

This item seems to be of good quality. As part of a four-part series, it worked flawlessly. part of a daisy Two of the four segments were Apple products, and they were used to connect a Sony digital video camera from the 1990s that had a firewire IEEE port to a Lenovo Yoga 730 Thunderbolt 3 port. The digital signal was immediately recognized by Corel Video Studio Ultimate, and my video was perfectly downloaded. The only issue I encountered was when I attempted to connect the firewire to it for the first time. It was adamant about not going in. I examined both pieces thoroughly before attempting to "fit a square peg into a round hole. " I figured the "ribs" poking into the firewire opening were just to keep the wire in place. The firewire did indeed snap into place and fit snugly. Because that was its sole purpose, I decided to leave it attached!.

When used with a Mac Mini (Thunderbolt 2) and an RME Sound Interface (Firewire 400), it performs admirably
5/5

As part of a connection between a 2014 Mac Mini (Thunderbolt 2 port) and an RME Fireface 400 Sound Interface (Firewire 400 port), it works flawlessly. Those two devices do not have a direct connection. This product is wired in series between a 12-year-old Sound Interface and a Firewire 800-based computer. > Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter (Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter - Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter - Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapt The Firewire 800 is a high-speed data transfer protocol. > The 2014 Mac Mini has a Thunderbolt 2 adapter installed.

However, it is not only inexpensive but also practical
4/5

Assume you've recently purchased a new Mac. And then you notice there's a Firewire 800 port on it. And you don't want to get rid of a couple of Firewire 400 hard drive enclosures. This is a more cost-effective solution to your problems than purchasing a new set of Firewire400 to Firewire800 cables to use with your Mac and existing Firewire hard drives. Simply purchase this and you can keep using your old FW400 cables while saving money. br>br>The adapter has a FW400 slot on one end where you can plug in your existing FW400 cable and a FW800 plug on the other end that you can plug into the FW800 slot on your Mac. The adapter itself is chunky, and it fits snugly next to my mini DP to DVI adapter, but it works. br>br>During my use of the adapter to connect my external hard drives and transfer data to and from my mac, there have been no random disconnects or data dropouts. I have two of these, and they both function flawlessly on my computer. Considering that other companies charge between $10 and $12 for a single Firewire 800 to 400 adapter, this is a great deal at $6. 99br>br>However, if you want a more versatile product to use alongside your Mini DP to Mini DVI adapter, the.

adapters/1cable) combination The connection of a hard drive (LACIE) to a Thunderbolt port on a 15-inch Macbook Pro worked flawlessly! Hassle- BINGO! It's completely free! Okay, I use Windows, Linux, and the Macintosh operating systems
5/5

For a variety of uses br>br>I also want to keep using my fantastic Canon Vixia HV-100 camera. Only 5 or 6 years old, a 30 MiniDV camera. That's brand new to me! br>br>I upgraded to a new Mac (which is now my film-editing machine). and infotainment-only system) iMac 2,9 i5 and discovered another Mac backwards compatibility issue, this time with NO FIRE WIRE PORTS. To put it mildly, I was skeptical. br>br>So I connected the Thunderbolt to FW 800br>Then I used this little "elago" adaptor to convert FW800 to 400br>And I plugged the old FW 400 cable into it. It was necessary for me to "shove" it in, but that was fine. br>br>If you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, try using the words BINGO! br>br>Everything is smooth and pleasant to use; I've only transferred 10 minutes of data to the Mac, but this small piece performs admirably, and the small size is a plus. br>br>The price is reasonable, far less than the $29 or $39 that a Mac store would charge. br>br>Apart from that, I don't have any technical specifications to report in terms of speed or anything like that; it works for my filming-related needs. projects.
