Selected User Reviews For Edifier R980T 4" Active Bookshelf Speakers - 2.0 Computer Speaker - Powered Studio Monitor (Pair)

What kind of person could tolerate listening to music on these devices? My apologies, but I have no idea how anyone who listens to music could possibly give these speakers more than one These are the issues I am facing 1) You can fiddle with the bass all you want, but that won't change the fact that the mid-range is essential to the composition
3/5

A range of frequencies can be used The sound of human vocals, guitar, and most piano and string instruments is carried by these devices. There are barely any sounds to be heard. All the frequencies that do come through are jumbled together and can't be distinguished from one another. This is pretty pathetic considering I can get clearer audio out of a $15 iPod dock. 2) The controls are on the back of the speaker, making them highly accessible. As a result, you need to pick up the speaker and turn it around yourself to adjust the settings (hard to do with multiple cables attached to it). Three) The speakers arrived with a disgusting smell that filled my apartment in less than ten *
4) I have a problem with the RCA cable that came with my speakers. When it's connected to a device, it gives off static unless it's twisted exactly It seems like the cable they sent me is defective. I am a professional musician who has purchased computer speakers mainly for music for at least I see it as an anomaly that products always seem to get worse over time. These speakers are a breathtakingly disappointing example of that.

It is possible to listen at lower levels with amplified speakers, but you may need an external volume control
4/5

It is probably the only set of amplified bookshelf speakers that I have tried in a long time that did not have problems on the 'off' channel right from the start. It is still possible to use the passive side (the one without the built-in amplifier) although it fails occasionally. This is not something I want to see happen to them. It is a very good sound system and the reproduction is A fairly crisp high end is present, a tight bass is present, and a clean midrange is apparent. It appears that the amplification works well, and they can be loud if you wish. The quality of the music isn't very high This set of monitors is high-end, but the sound is very It has one of those ridiculously popular knobs that you can use to I have tried these knobs almost everywhere else, but they make the bass sound muddy as you increase the volume There are many such devices that can range from fairly clean to full mudslide. This one appears to offer quite a bit of bass control, which you can adjust easily while still retaining a relatively clear sound. However, it is more limited than some mudslide controls. In my opinion, it's one of the few that I feel comfortable setting about to the middle (the travel detent at that point makes it easy to adjust). In contrast to some amplified speakers I have tried, they can not be used in a stand-alone mode without the amplifier (the onboard amplifier will not be bypassed if the power switch is turned off). The downside is that this is not an unusual limitation (especially for a product in this price range). There is a lot of animosity around ground balance with them. Make sure they are plugged into the same outlet as whatever is connected as their source, otherwise you will hear a lot of AC line noise. Although I've seen this with amplifiers before, these speakers seem more touchy about it than others I've What about the lack of an explicit connection to the ground? Is it possible that my home has an older electrical system? There is only a tiny bit of use for the lower maybe 25% of the volume knob. Anywhere below about 25% causes them to become silent, no matter what input level they are using. It means I need to reduce their signal amplitude to get them to be not just quiet but also not silent, as well. The speakers pick up the noise from the PC, so this isn't so easy. (Which is why lowering the volume on the PC to below 10% lets the speaker amplify the noise as well). The volume control appears to be quite good with the exception of the lower range. All in all, I can overlook the flaws with the exception of the volume control at the lower end Because of this constraint, I had to install an inline volume control (in order to drive hard enough from the PC end to avoid audibly coupling processing noise, but for the output volume to be quiet enough that it could be used One star is taken away from them.

You're getting a good deal for your money
4/5

Thank you for the speakers. I am generally pleased with them. I was almost going to give it only 3 stars simply due to its frequency response, since I am a professional musician. signal at the lowest frequency is 70 Hz, and a higher frequency will show the difference, but you cannot hear the difference directly It would have inaudible frequencies at the end of the speaker. Although this is a relatively new product, I was attracted to it due to the fact that the cabinets are actually made of wood (to me, that is a much better material choice than any plastic or artificial material), the size, and their two-tier design This system has a 24-watt output and a 2-way system. This is all available for only 69 dollars (or 12 watts per channel). If you don't have the cash to pay more or you aren't picky enough to get a higher-end model, this is a great deal A desktop speaker with a price tag of more than two hundred dollars. There's nothing really new about the earlier version of this model, but they added a high-tone control (on top of the volume and bass) and moved it to the right of the speaker, to make it easier to access. I think the only thing that would have been nice at this price point is a headphone output. Working in an office, you're likely to need it to keep your privacy when the boss is around. You don't want to bother your colleagues or you don't want to bother your boss You have a good sound that you can use to help others. 5) I also have a pair of Bluetooth Sony SRS-B2 headphones A desktop speaker that is the X55. There is no doubt that Edifiers are not capable of the same sound quality as the Sony in all ranges, but the Sony is unable to respond well to music with a full orchestra or classical guitar with a lot of volume and tone in the medium frequency range. Despite their other faults, the Edifier is an excellent all-around speaker when you let go of a bit of pickyness, but they are good all-around speakers if you have good ears. I haven't heard any distortion with higher volumes or full orchestra music so far. It sounds like they're holding the tone pretty well. They describe their product as "proudly made in China", and I especially like that. If you tell me that instead of knocking on the door, I much prefer it It is based on the name of a big brand that conceals its origins. They demonstrated to me that China has come a long way The audio products that are being made are becoming a lot better and can be very pleasing to the ear. Buying this product was a good choice.
