Selected User Reviews For Ubiquiti Networks UniFi USW-16-POE Gen2 Configurable 16-Port Gigabit PoE Ethernet Switch with SFP
This switch was ideal for my data closet because I was upgrading my existing UniFi network at home. It does have some minor issues if there is a power outage and the PoE fails to supply power to the 8 ports, but this can be resolved with a simple reboot of the controller. Ubiquiti is working to resolve this issue.
I'm also perplexed as to why they have a 1Gb STP port when everyone uses 10Gb nowadays. That appears to be a design flaw in the product.
This is an eight port POE switch that is advertised as a sixteen port switch. Don't be fooled by the misleading advertisement.
There are eight POE ports, but no temperature sensor or CLI. At the very least, there isn't anything useful. On this device, you can't use the same commands that you could on a gen 1 USW; you can get information about the device and interfaces, but you can't change some port settings like vlans. Without capable CLI access, the device's recovery is limited to factory defaulting rather than making a quick change. It does, however, have a small LCD screen that displays switch information!.
It makes no noise and isn't very hot, emitting about a third of the heat produced by the pro key that sits on top of it. There are no issues with performance, heat, or noise because poe is set to its maximum for cameras. Defaulted a dozen or so times due to controller mods I couldn't fix; it's not the switch's fault; the switch comes online and does its job without any configuration from me.
It's the genuine article, fresh from the manufacturer in its original packaging. Fan- design with fewer, quiet elements Worked with a UniFi controller without any issues. The small stats on the touchscreen are a nice addition. Love it!.
It had bricked itself. It was very simple to set up this switch. It functioned for two months before crashing. It is not possible to reset it. It's completely useless at this point, and Amazon's return deadline has passed. While there is a known problem with this switch, Ubiquiti will have to cover it under warranty. br>br>Waste of money on a grand scale. POE injectors and a less expensive unmanaged switch are probably the way to go. br>br>The hardware from Ubiquiti is no longer as reliable as it once was.
