I've got 5 of these 8-packs in my possession. I've never had a problem with port-unmanaged switches. I disagree with all of the complaints about DHCP not working, and I don't see why it shouldn't. My Google Wifi system handles DHCP for my entire network, and as you can see from the network diagram, it's the first device in a chain of devices that all get IP addresses. We use Comcast's Gigabit service and have never had a problem with the network being clogged. All I have to say is get one of these if you need a switch for your home network. 10/10.

This switch worked perfectly for six months before suddenly going from a very slow speed to none at all in a week's time. I tried contacting the manufacturer for a replacement and got the runaround! They make you use chat (blaming Covid for the lack of phone support, which is a load of nonsense). Okay, I'll use chat. br>br>OK, I'll use chat. But, hold on a second, what's that? Oh, I'm the 12th person in line? I finally got an agent after 25 minutes, who gave me answers at a snail's pace. He was obviously dealing with multiple customers at the same time. To cut a long story short, he takes me through an insane troubleshooting rigmarolebr>br>Onebr>Questionbr>Atbr>Timebr>br>with at least 2 minutes between segmentsbr>br> br>br>Finally, after 45 minutes, I realized I'd be wasting my time if I stayed any longer. I decided to cut my losses and leave. br>br>As a result, I'm going to spend even more time telling you about my adventure. This product already has a zillion reviews, so mine won't make much of a difference, but I feel obligated to help my fellow users. You can express your gratitude by up-voting me on social media. RMA experience was a disaster. When I first got it, the device worked reasonably well. Make a connection For the most part, the Switch worked fine, but eventually some of the ports stopped working. Some of the devices I had connected to certain ports would say they couldn't connect until I tried a different port, and the lights on each port, which were supposed to be green or yellow depending on the type of device connected, began randomly changing where they hadn't before. And even if the ports weren't completely down, the devices connected to them would experience intermittent internet outages. So I had to send it back. br>br> TP- was the one who I spoke with. Link support was contacted, and a replacement was sent out. A TL- was assigned to me. The SG108 is a switch that has been upgraded from version 1 to version 2. The version number on the one I purchased was higher. I received a replacement that was inferior to what I had originally purchased. I contacted support about it, and the person I spoke with had no idea that the product versions had different features. Even though the replacement was a REFURBISHED unit, I kept getting the same line about how it was an "upgraded version that our engineers worked on" despite the fact that it was a REFURBISHED unit. "It's guaranteed to work" and that "there's no difference between this older version and this newer version. " "the more recent V3 version" br>br>I had to literally point the support person in the direction of the TL- On their own TP-site, they have a page for the SG108 product. Point to the line that says "Support 802. " on the website. IGMP Snooping function1 and 1p/DSCP QoS1". They didn't get it, so I had to explain how superscript numbers worked for a few more minutes. pointing out that the number was referring to a sentence at the bottom of the page that said those features were only available in V2 and later versions. "1. For versions V2 and later. " It's ridiculous. br>br>The customer service representative kept repeating that this had been upgraded by their engineering team, whatever that meant. When I asked if they meant that even though the product says it's version 1, the insides were changed to be a later version, they never answered directly, instead repeating the line about the engineering team upgrading it. I inquired as to why it is still listed as version 1 when it has been upgraded to include features from later versions. "It's been upgraded," they said again, without further explanation. br>br>The customer service representative seemed to believe that if they repeated themselves enough times, I would eventually buy what they were selling. That I'd be persuaded that I didn't receive a substandard product in exchange for what I paid for It was sent to them. br>br>To summarize, the device has ceased to function properly. I initiated a return merchandise authorization (RMA) procedure. I received a REFURBISHED AND LOWER QUALITY product than what I had originally purchased. The support team insisted on telling me that the later ones' features were unimportant. It was not a major issue. That is ludicrous.

It was a bad decision to purchase this switch. I saved the box in case it didn't work out and I needed to return it. This is not an exaggeration; the switch failed literally ONE DAY after the return window had expired. I emailed tech support, and they requested IP addresses, gateway information, and other information. It's really simple, I just bypass the switch and plug directly into my router, and I'm online. There is no internet when I connect to this switch. It's a switch that isn't controlled by anyone. Why should I have to troubleshoot by using command prompts or terminals? "Plug and play" is how it's described. When I plug it in, it does not play; therefore, it is defective; however, we must play games for warranty purposes. For the $20 this switch cost, it'll go into a pile of other Amazon chinesium for recycling, and I'll have to buy another brand; it's not worth the troubleshooting time, network downtime, and headache to play tit-tit-tit-tit-tit-tit-tit-tit-tit-tit-tit-tit-tit-tit-tit-tit-tit-tit-tit- for- tat with a manufacturer who makes false claims. This is a product that I do not recommend.

For desktop use, the SG108) is a capable performer. There are many switches that work in the same way. In my IT practice, I've used a variety of them over the years, but I've always had good results with TP-IT. Link.
