Questions & Answers

My wife and I are ready to buy two of them, but some of the reviews have scared me off. Can this product really be used in an enterprise environment?

The definition of 'Enterprise Ready' varies from person to person. My recommendation is to use a static IP address instead of a MPLS network if your company only has one static IP address. You may want to look elsewhere if you wish to NAT multiple statics, route over MPLS networks, or do other 'advanced' things. *About the background It's about one year since I began using the Unifi line, and my employer (I work for a small IT firm) began testing it about four months after I did my first test. We have been deploying it to our small customers with networks like the one I described During our testing, the IPsec VPN tunnels between Unifi sites were only able to establish tunnels between themselves (Unifi to Unifi), unless we made serious changes to the json files through ssh. These IPsec tunnels have served our needs just fine, and traffic has not encountered any issues. It has been a pleasure doing business with them. The fact that we are running the USG Pro4, PoE Universal Switch, and Unifi AP Pro at our office and Cisco Firepower in the datacenter for connecting to our larger clients has not been a problem for us, but I can definitely see how some users might complain about The reconfiguration issue, as some folks have alluded to, is the following In my experience, I have developed a procedure to reprogram the USG with any internal network subnet or IP scheme, and I haven't experienced any problems with it. We had a bit of trouble creating the process, but once we had it documented, we had no problems configuring the Unifi networking stuff with default options The 0/24 network is not operational. Having configured it for use with and without external DHCP servers, there are no problems with it. This is what I'd like to say Generally, I have been very pleased with Unifi's products There has been progress every step of the way. They are constantly improving their stuff through controller/firmware updates and upgrades, and their build quality is exemplary (for example, their HD WaPs, as well as their USG/networking gear). There is a tremendous difference between the product they produced a year ago and the one they produce now. I know that for about $800, you can outfit an entire office (USG, USW, UAP, Cloud Key), which is about a third the cost of just

Does it have a fan or is it quiet?

It is not quite quiet, but it is much less noisy than my Trendnet 24-port POE/POE+ switch with two fans, so it is not much of an issue

Do I have the option of connecting two different internet connections? What is the load balancing of the gateway?

I'd say yes. Using the UniFi host controller program, you'll be able to access all features and settings available. If you wish to find out more about UniFi, try searching YouTube or you can visit the willie Howe YouTube channel.

UniFi Gateway is a nice addition to the A totally silent system is possible
5/5

I use just about all of the UniFi components that you offer and recommend them highly. Rack mount gear is always preferable to me, but this made too much fan noise to be used in a quiet office. Using the non-profit organization was the best choice for me It is better to have a fanless gateway or at least one that is totally silent for that task. Since the fans appeared to be regular 20mm, I opened up to see if the fans could be swapped. connect with a standard 3 wire fan connector, so they can be quickly plugged in. In my case, I used the Noctua NF-S It uses four 4x20 FLX fans which operate at an equal or greater airflow than the stock fans and are noiseless there are two heat sinks that barely warm up to the touch when the unit is on without being overworked. With about $30 more and 5 minutes more, you can deploy this almost There will usually be a disclaimer that you are likely voiding any warranty on the unit if you make this attempt and that it is provided with the understanding that it is your own risk if you attempt it. that you have learned how to modding, have fun.

It's all about speed and power! USG Security Gateway Pro can supply DPI and IPS at 250 MB/sec due to its bandwidth
5/5

According to USG, the residential USG Security Gateway (the small one) is capable of receiving up to 80 Mb/sec of data. My area is served by Comcast, who offers residential connections of 250 Mb/sec for a reasonable price. The smaller USG needs to be upgraded in order for me to get the full internet speeds I was paying for. As you can see from the attached screenshot of the Speed Test, I have now reached the 250 Mb/Sec that was The upgrade from the USG to the USG Pro was quite simple Rather than physically removing the old device from the network, I deprovisioned it and then physically decommissioned it. The USG Controller was used to take the configuration over to the new device once it had been plugged in and adopted. I spent about 5 minutes on the project.

UTM Gateway Issue is now fixed as well as the audio issue! Prior to this I was using Sophos Home UTM a virtual layer 3 UTM
4/5

I wanted to switch to a physical layer 3 UTM gateway for a long time. UniFi is already being used for switching and management of WiFi networks. It was very logical to advance in this manner. During this review, I'll be focusing on the bandwidth challenges with UTM gateways and the fan noise. Overall, this is a solid purchase in spite of its In particular, the DHCP service capabilities of this SG are disappointing, but somehow it seems that people will not be buying it because of the awesome DHCP capability. How would I integrate my new Sophos UTM firewall which is a fully functioning enterprise class firewall with my existing Sophos UTM? An internet connection with gigabit speeds and threat management. When I had my first try at Gigabit internet, I had to turn the speed down to 120Mbps because of overhead threat management. It is not good to deal with such In UniFi land, even the UniFi Security gateways have limits on speed due to processing overheads when using Deep Packet Inspection (also known as Threat Management). It is with great pleasure to tell you that the U. S. The Pro- This is a good compromise between the normal SG and the high end XG that comes at a very high price! I can now hit 400Mbps and above The USG officially gets a B+ grade from Ubiquiti, which is a big win for me The Pro- With 200Mbps and DPI, it takes 4 minutes. Now that the bandwidth issue is dealt with, there is nothing more to worry about. In my initial focus, I focused on the fan noise, which is not horrific, but loud enough to get my SO upset. People who are not good are also not welcome here. It seems that swapping the fans works as described in a few reviews. Please find attached photos of me doing just that. It is super easy to swap PC fans if you have swapped them before. You should check out the videos if you've never seen them. Whisper Quiet sound is the result! You will need

The specific fan you will It has a Noctua NF-B- configuration The FLX format is A4x20. The search must be exact. Use "

Model" instead of "

" Be prepared to receive significant overcompensation from Noctua with their packaged products. It is truly epic, but.

This product is underpowered, but has a lot of good features
3/5

At home, I have some UBNT APs and a few UBNT switches already deployed. Those are all controlled by my cloud key Gen 2 Plus, while the routing is done by my Edgerouter 12. Having always wanted to see what features USG routers had to offer and how well they worked, I decided to order this pro 4 -- which is less powerful that In any case, it pretty much has a nice feature set and it easily integrates The problem is. An IP address of 300/12 is assigned to me. In addition, it claims to be able to do IPS and DPI out of I was down about 140 and up about 8 at that time. In addition to Smart qos, you should ignore performance issues if you set the DPI and IPS to 100%. With a CPU so weak, there is no way we would be able to use all the nice features of this router for anything above 100Mbps (a speed most of us are well above There is an urgent need for a new UNSG to be made that can handle maybe 400-500 We don't have to pay $2500 for an 800Mbps device with IPS, DPI, and QoS (like the XG, which was discontinued). There will be a return of this one. can come out with something a little more powerful, then I'd be all over that. In my opinion, it would be better to get an ER- than the current offerings from the USG An ER of 4 or an If you have a 6P or ER-type, then go to 6P Choosing 12 if you want speed and quality of service is the best way to go.

This was just a quick job
5/5

This is what I'm looking for! In the past, I had the little USG. As I told the controller to remove the USG and put in the new one, the controller didn't remember the old one. The Pro- After adoption, the device received an upgrade firmware message. The firmware was upgraded, and the device was rebooted. All the settings from the old USG were still there. That is amazing. A symmetric gigabit connection works great for me and I get 987 down and 980 up with DPI enabled. I am very happy with this.

This is a great enterprise portal
5/5

This is a great enterprise portal. Fan reviews do not seem to be as negative as I thought they would be. It is outstanding how this team performs. The 50Gb port works as a perfect replacement for my USG 3. I have a 1GIG CenturyLink fiber connection.

This is a decent piece of gear with solid performance
5/5

My role is to install and configure Pakedge, networks, and solve problems in the real world with other people's installations. There have been a lot Over the years, I've worked with a lot of gear, and Ubiquiti has caused me the least headache. There has been a rapid increase in stability of the cloud controller over the last few My pakedge network just cost me around $25,000 and I want to pop out like a balloon. There was no reason why Ubiquiti could not have been done in less than 8 hours, and I would have It gives me the confidence to set up and deploy my systems faster without wasting time spec'ing anything else. The experience of setting up each of the devices I must log in to was like building the prehistoric internet. THERE IS SO MUCH TRAFFIC. You may need to attend the UEWA course if you are having trouble understanding.
