It was just a purchase to see if it worked. This design is very nice and will provide much needed heat dispersion for my MacBook Air, which gets very hot doing all these zooms! There is a lot of padding where it meets the MacBook, and the joint is incredibly sturdy! I was very impressed with how stiff the joints were as well! As a result, I don't have to worry about it drooping or not staying in position while I use it - even while typing with my hands resting on it! What a cool idea! I was not expecting this to be so good. It was ordering another one for my daughter for her neck pain caused by looking down so much while studying and Zooming throughout her class. As well as being able to prop it up higher, she will now be able to see the screen clearly since it is raised on the stand. It will also hold a large history textbook without buckling, helping her line of sight and taking some stress off her back. For people who tend to look down a lot at their laptop or desk, or for people who read books bent over, this stand is just what the doctor ordered. During the time remote learning is taking place, this program has saved me and my daughter a great deal of time and money. I will continue using this stand when I return to the classroom so that I can pick up my books in the right position. Since I purchased this laptop stand, I've used it on my 17" laptop for a couple of weeks I use it in my laptop, and it is very strong. When you adjust the arms to the desired position, it can take a lot of strength, but that is good so that the position won't change afterward. It seems that there is no way to adjust the friction setting on the arms, but I only have it on my desk and keep it there when I'm using it. I like the screen being high so that I don't have to bend over to look In the absence of I have found both the slip pads under the stand (which contacts my desk) and those on top of the stand (which contact my laptop) to be very effective. As for my opinion, I really like this riser, which is pretty much the same as the Nulaxy, but for $4 less. My experience has not been adversely affected by rough, uneven edges as described by others. Even though you have to exert a little muscle in order to extend the parts, I think it's a huge plus that it doesn't wiggle or fall apart. Adding on doesn't take too much work.
