Overall, I believe this is a good MacBook Pro protective cover. It appears to be in good condition, though the clear top cover appears to scratch easily, but at least it is the cover and not my MacBook that is scratched. The only real flaw I see in this cover is on the bottom front edge. It connects to the MacBook via "clips" on the edges, which isn't a problem in most cases. However, the two hard plastic clips on the bottom front edge, which have a "corner" on each end, obstruct use of the touchpad and keyboard. When you type or use the touch pad, your wrists rub against the raised clip, which quickly becomes uncomfortable. They need to round the ends of the clips or make them out of something that won't scratch your skin. Fortunately, I only use my MacBook for fun and genealogy research; however, this cover would not work if I had to use it for work and had to be on it for 8 hours a day. I used to have a different cover, but it was made of hard plastic, and pieces of it would come off around the edges at random. This isn't going to happen with this one, in my opinion. When I used my laptop, however, the first one had no effect on me.
It was necessary to simplify the instructions. Make sure the case's top (lid) half is snapped on with only TWO tabs on the edge closest to the hinge. When the lid is open, the THREE tabs run along the top edge of the screen. Once this is done, there should be no more problems with the top not fully opening. Now for the rest of the review. br>br> I purchased a couple of MacBook Pro cases. The hard cases, invariably, disintegrate by themselves. Pieces literally breaking off or cracking down the middle for no apparent reason other than a poor construction. This one does not appear to fall into that category, based on the reviews. If I had my way, I'd prefer a case with softer silicon around the edges, like most phone cases. But that's almost never done with computer cases, and I'm guessing there's a durability issue when cases get this large. Whatever. The corners of this case have a vaguely pleasant rubberized feel to them. I have the impression that if something were to fall on it, or if it were to fall from my lap to the floor, the computer would have a much better chance of surviving than if it were not in its case. I suspect you'll be on your own if you fall from a greater height. br>br>The smokey grey color is also appealing, and for someone like me who owns a 2015 15" model, it's a simple way to get that cool 2020 look without having to buy a 2020 machine! I didn't buy the case for that reason. br>br>All right, let's get started. In summary. . . The case is reasonably priced (in comparison to some that are more easily broken). It's a little heavier than I'd like, but that's because it's a real case, not just 1/8" or less of fragile plastic that'll break tomorrow. It's exactly what I'm looking for. It would also be nice if I could put stickers on the case instead of the machine itself if I were a sticker person. The case isn't as "cool" as the machine itself, just as my phone isn't as cool with the case it's wearing. However, for me, the case isn't about matching the machine's appearance; it's about protecting the machine, at least to some extent. That'll be the end of my ramblings.
I'll continue to purchase for my MacBooks. This case was purchased to replace a similar one that I had had for years on my MacBook Pro. It eventually cracked to the point where it needed to be replaced. I couldn't go back to my old one, which was an iPearl case, after years of having feet on my laptop case. BUT- Because I'm clumsy and carry this heavy laptop in my handbag every day, I needed a case with some rubber on it. br>br>This style of case (you'll see it sold by different brands, but it appears they're all made by the same company) is far superior to anything else I've seen for apple laptops *everywhere. * Reasons for this:
- Feet. It has a significant impact on people. I'll never use a laptop that doesn't have flippable feet again. The wrists are more comfortable. When the computer is propped up, I simply feel more efficient. The benefit is that space for cooling
- The construction is extremely smooth. It feels good in your hands, the feet work perfectly, and the case is extremely snug, but removing it is difficult and requires strategy. I haven't figured it out yet, but I'm sure there's a way. The vent spaces beneath the laptop are another feature I like. The design demonstrates that whoever was in charge of this project put a lot of thought into it. At the front of the laptop, there are nice flush corner edges where your wrists end up.
- Corners made of rubber Nobody wants to put their laptop in a massive rubber bumper, let's face it. Even if they did, finding them is difficult. This is the only case I've seen recently that has some rubber padding but doesn't drastically alter the shape of your computer. Sleek plastic covers, on the other hand, are unlikely to provide adequate protection for your computer against bumps. This case strikes a nice middle ground between the two. Bonus- Because of the rubberized edges for grip, you will feel secure when handling the computer. I don't expect the bumpers to save my computer from a serious fall, but it's better than nothing if something goes wrong.
- It's a fantastic deal for the services it offers. Attractive, useful, reasonably priced, and well-made. It greatly expands the capabilities of your computer. 100% money well spent as well as possibly possible I hope they don't stop making them in the future.
The case fits, but I wouldn't call it "heavy duty"; the "be aware" label applies because the bottom back attachment prevents the screen from fully opening and can put pressure on it.
Although the instructions could have been written more clearly, the case fit my MacBook Pro perfectly. Because the clips were difficult to catch, I had to try again; it's a tight fit (which is a good thing). The fold-out tilt feet are a little fragile and may snap off if you're not careful, and repeated removal will wear out the clips. Aside from that, it's well made, especially for the price.
