This is in a good size for traveling and fits under airplane seats, but I just used it when I was flying and it got pulled every time for security searches because that top lining has metal in it. In addition, it does not always close easily. It is easier to look inside and get things out because it is more square because of the lining. But it is more difficult to close because of the lining. The leather part of the zipper has already ripped off since I used it for only one trip, two airports, and I couldn't close it easily because of the difficulty in closing. As a result, when searching for a good travel size backpack, I will keep that in mind.
Holy crap, I can't believe what a nice bag this is, especially for the price. It stands up by itself, which is a feature I always look for in a bookbag.
