Questions & Answers

What is the ease of use of this product?

You can use it very easily. It only takes plugging it into an outlet and plugging in the USB cable to the computer port to turn it on and have it appear as an external drive on "my computer." To plug a memory disc into the drive, of course, you must have a memory disc.

In the process of recovering data from zip disks, I have many. They are not confusing and do not contain any direct language. Do you know if a USB cable will work with an Apple ?

The zip drive is complete with cables and I bought it Using Mac OS X, Version 10, I hooked up the system to my work computer. I couldn't get it to work with 5. As a result, I took everything home and hooked it up to my old iMac dating from 2003. I worked it out! Using the zips, I was able to extract the data. I was able to open most PageMaker and Quark files in Indesign CC3. You need to drag them to the desktop and open them within the application when you have opened them.

Someone else is going to receive this gift. Are all the parts necessary for it to be plugged in and run included with the package?

It comes ready to plug and play, according to what I remember. When I bought mine, I wanted to convert a few tens of zip disks to CD-Roms To exchange with family members, you can use CD-ROM disks.

I have an external 100 zip drive with a PLP connection. Can I use the drive with a cable, for example, from PLP to USB?

I am not familiar with the concept of a PLP. An USB cable is included with the Zip Drive so you can connect it to a computer's USB port. It is my hope that this helps!

I have no issues running Windows 10
5/5

As a result of reading some reviews mentioning compatibility issues with Windows 10, I contacted the seller to find out if I could get a refund if it hadn't worked. After I wrote back to him, he told me it should work with Windows 10 but that if I had any problems I could "return it within 30 days and receive a refund. ". In the end, it was simply a matter of plugging in the provided power supply and USB cables and I was up and running in minutes. It was assigned a device name of Zip Disk 100 in Device Manager and worked as expected. My recommendation is to give it a try.

This version of Windows is incompatible with both Windows 7 and Windows 8 and 10
3/5

Do not waste your time on Microsoft's current operating systems (7, 8, 10) are incompatible with it. You can use the drive if you're running CentOS 7 or XP (possibly). Iomega is now owned by Lenovo, but Lenovo offers no support. Don't listen to the chatter about downloading this and that. Save yourself time and money by avoiding this. I would give BooksAMillion no stars if it were not for their courteous, understanding customer service, which gladly refunded the money. There was a problem with it, and I was so disappointed. This product has been the subject of five or more reviews claiming it works In 15 years' time.

The zip100 disks I used to store my old files are now accessible
5/5

When I bought my zip100 disks in 1998, I put all my music on them. In addition, I had a parallel/SCSI iomega zip 100 drive, which was connected to my korg trinity and my Windows 98PC. then, the drive has broken twice, and another I bought at a garage sale has also broken. I gave up and kept the zip disks in a My data was almost lost after I bought two parallel/SCSI Iomega Zip100s on ebay only to discover that 1) my SCSI connection on my Korg has broken, and 2) no PC has a parallel/SCSI port. I was almost at the end of my rope. My luck was in finding this USB version, and it works perfectly. Attaching it to a linux machine, mounting the disks, and copying all the data and full disk images, I attached it to an Ubuntu computer. A priceless item it saved from destruction was something I thought I had lost for good. Thanks for your kind words!.

Despite the fact that it works well, it gets 5 stars
5/5

The primary reason I bought it was to be able to access photo files I had backed up on an old parallel port zip drive. The drive plugged right in to my Mac Book and ran fine - I was able to read and write files onto disks, but I cannot view the old data that was on the drive. The information correctly shows that the disk was formatted in FAT 16, and that it has 45 meg of available space, most of which is taken up by my photos. have even tried plugging it into my wife's old Windows computer and it shows a message like this Despite the space being used, the files do not exist. Otherwise, the drive appears to be working properly.

The pictures were saved to my computer
5/5

There were a few Old Zip disks with some photos on them I wanted to save and should have been able to retrieve them from my hard drive. First two of these were broken and could not be used. Surprisingly, I was able to purchase another two from another seller. It deserves a thumbs up from Lotus (neither was from an Amazon vendor) because the unit they sent me was in great shape and worked perfectly.

Windows 8 does not support this feature
3/5

Among the 9 yes answers I received when I posed my question about whether this Iomega Zip Drive works with Windows 8 before buying it, 9 answered yes. However, no one that answered had ever actually tried it under Windows As a result of this software, Win 8 had been shut down, and I had to reboot if I wanted it to work again. There is a serious defect. This does not work on Windows 8, or on computers made by ACER. In response to your refund request, I have applied. A quick update It worked after it failed on a laptop with Windows 7, but I was unable to load it after the failure on Windows 8. In the aftermath of loading the software, Windows was unable to start, and it still isn't starting. Unless you know how to fix it when it won't start, I would not recommend using Win 7 unless you have the knowledge. Mine needs to be repaired, and the minimum repair is 70 dollars. A third of the product's sales price is a lot to pay just to trial an inferior product.

A new zip drive that I ordered from Amazon (AEEC) worked flawlessly with my computer
5/5

The first drive did not work with my computer (no recognition), so I contacted the seller. He sent me another drive. Same result. The next day he sent me a newer model that was powered from a USB cable and it worked flawlessly with my Mac. Nevertheless, one of the old zip disks did not work properly after being inserted into the computer, and I was unable to eject the disk as the computer had no way of seeing.

I am amazed
3/5

The world is a better place when obsolete technology helps out! I picked it because it met my needs in a way To copy obsolete writing files from an older MAC to an eMAC, one must use an obsolete storage system. My next step was to convert to OpenSource, a current word processing program. As soon as I plugged my Zip Drive into my iMac, I wanted to copy all of those newly translated files to it. My iMac, however, was unable to "see" or "read" the zip drive (though it did see it when connected to a USB hub). For this reason, I had to buy a flash drive from Mac to copy those files. I was then able to copy files from the flash drive to the iMac using Customer Support. (Their Customer Support said the drive had been tested under Mac OS 10. ) My version of 6 works fine [I have 10]. The version of Mountain Lion is 5. 0). Technology essentially served its purpose at the end of the day! We are thankful for that. I received quick responses to my questions from the Seller. It is important to provide good customer service. ).
