Questions & Answers

Can I install Windows and get the hard drive recognized in the PC I built? My hard drive does not show up in bios on the PC I built. ?

MBR and GPT are the two main types of partition tables on hard drives. Drives up to 2TB can be supported by the MBR using the standard BIOS. This means it will not I do not have any expertise in partition tables, so I would suggest that you look up "MBR vs GPT" if that is the question you have. It's my belief that nobody should use a HDD as their OS/boot drive in the year 2021, unless it's a drive that is designed to be locked down. Make sure that your Windows SSD is separate.

In WD's warranty system, what type of drive does this drive belong to?

To choose other WD products, select "Other WD Products" right now.

Do you know if this drive is compatible with a SATA2 The device is not visible to Windows 10. I can hear it whirring on power up, but it cannot be plugged in. Why?

The faster SATA III speeds require cables that are compatible with SATA II The more quality cables you use, the less likely you are to experience data corruption when using high-speed signals, but SATA II rated cables should typically conduct data properly. There isn't much reason to worry about buying OEM SATA II cables from companies like HP and Dell

Selected User Reviews For Western Digital 2TB WD Blue PC Hard Drive - 7200 RPM Class, SATA 6 Gb/s, 256 MB Cache, 3.5" - WD20EZBX

You are being taken advantage of by WD
3/5

Consumer hard drives from the Red and Blue lines of WD have recently been converted from CMR to SMR, a move which has upset many customers. The crux of this is that they're able to put more storage into the same drive with less material and at the cost of performance and sometimes compatibility (mostly for WD Red drives labeled "NAS" As a result of this, the company has gone out of its way to reduce costs and has not been transparent with customers of the change and possible consequences, nor has the company reported any cost savings. It is no longer okay for me to support WD drives, as now I will cease to support them in favor of other brands. I have always preferred WD drives to any other WD Blue's new 6 TB drive performs worse in my system than its 2GB predecessor. I was duped by this and am much less satisfied with it now. Thank god I discovered this before purchasing NAS drives - 1000 bucks would have been wasted. As a result, a competitor will receive that money. Make sure you do your homework before purchasing a drive from ANY vendor, and make sure you are not getting a SMR drive.

The following is not a warranty Product manufactured by an OEM
3/5

As soon as the 6TB drive arrived, I registered it as soon as possible based on other reviews on Amazon. My attempt to access the website did not succeed. This message was presented to me Please accept my thanks for registering your product(s), 0 of the 1 product(s) you cited were registered. There was a failure to register the following asset(s) If it's an OEM product or if the warranty has been void, then there is no warranty. In case of any further assistance, please get in touch with WD customer service. The product is subsequently sold on Amazon directly from WD, so I will get in touch and update the review based on the information I receive. Even if something goes wrong, the seller offers a warranty, but Western Digital refuses to honor it.

Don't let your guard down! It is terrible to deal with SMR! The longer the piece, the longer the time it will take! My six attempts at formatting with different types of connections are as follows It contains 2 AC adapters per drive bay with XFS half a time with SATA, half a time with ext4 two times with an AC adapter
3/5

As its name implies, SMR duplicates work internally which causes it to be bad for long writing jobs. The ext4 image I created is known to be faulty with XFS, so I tried out the ext4 image instead. Despite that, the formatting failed over an hour later. Every time I do something like this, something similar happens #mkfs. The XFS format I'll mkfs it. The XFS format I was unable to write zero data to the device The input/output error will appear at this point*#mkfs. File extension ext4 The allocation of group tables is as follows The inode tables have been written Finished creating the journal (262144 blocks) The superblocks and filesystem accounting information have been written. I use MKFS. File extension ext4 I am getting an input/output error when writing out and turning off the file system. It has passed the return window, so it does not make sense.

There is no reason to use this for a raid setup, network or general use since it is a shingled (SMR) drive
3/5

My bad fortune is that WD promised me such an expensive hard drive would run great at a reasonable price, but it crashed out of my raid set up after only a few months. If they had been honest about this, I would not have purchased it. In the end, it was only when external investigators discovered that Western Digital had sold SMR drives without admitting it that I realized that I had been duped. On the web, there are reports that these drives can be frozen for up to 20 minutes when they're trying to be written to. There is a high probability that the software will fail and your data may be lost if that happens.

Beware, there will be a price to pay
3/5

SMR DRIVE - this is it! If you're looking for a 2TB WD Blue or standard Red for 2020, go for a CMR drive. All of the new 2020 2TB In addition to the 2020 2TB Seagate Barracuda and Skyhawk Lites, SMRs are also available
they have some limitations and are not recommended for desktop or NAS use
SMRs should only be used for archival use. It's better to not buy a CMR drive Red Plus, Red Pro, Black, Purple, and Gold are comparable to CMR drives.

It is often difficult to tell the difference between different things
3/5

This device seems to be quiet and fast. I have added it to a Qnap 251 network adapter. Heating is working fine. I see a low temperature. In addition, 1 out of 5 starts is because of the following reasons Is it because a hard drive cannot have screws on it? Did the company stop caring about client needs and satisfaction when it stopped caring about customer needs By supporting them with 4 screws, you can spare customers the pain of hunting for HD screws by providing them for just 10 cents. In this case, 10 cents are equal to 0. US companies offer their customers this thoughtfulness in the form of 1% of the total price. The challenge was directed at Chinese Even though I am aware that these are made in China, I personally seek out American manufacturers. No matter what color or creed people are, I am always thankful for their work. It is the responsibility of a working man to send his children Although, I like to know there is a US company and manager overseeing manufacturing and ensuring all quality control and certification procedures are conducted in English. In what way would we ever be able to create world-class enterprises if a top storage company behaved like everything was just a price game?.

An error occurred during the drive check The error was immediately corrected by Amazon
4/5

On a new drive, I usually run a drive check while using You can now view the contents of /dev/sda10 using v /dev/sda10 Viruses and malware. Text file]. WD hard drives don't fail often, but when they do, it's typically very early in the life of the device. When a new drive is healthy, I should only experience A plain envelope was used for shipping my 1st drive. My BIOS showed the drive, but Linux tried to go through the drives check, and Windows' attempt at formatting timed out after a few My shock and amazement grew as I discovered that Amazon had come through with a brand new drive within four hours of my reporting the failed drive. The second drive as well as the first successfully passed a bad block scan.

The ironwolf does not work as well as this one, and it is about 10 degrees cooler
3/5

With a pair of these for one volume and a pair of Ironwolves for another I concluded that the biggest benefit for the Ironwolf was a 10 degree increase in chassis heat. A level of performance, an equal level of IOPs, a level of reliability are not different. In response to Ironwolf, WD came out with WD Red, but I see that this offers absolutely no cache relative to these cost more and are in fact only a cost-reduced WD Blue (at a higher price). So, that's the deal At least for the 12 users of the NAS systems I have running on WD Blue, the product is realistic. As well as running virtual machines locally as well as from the drive, it is also where six of the users keep their installed applications. Put an end to spending money on Red and The mere fact that they add NAS to the name does not mean it is a better domain than the one their marketing feels will offer the best likelihood of ROI As well as fat free sugar, I have some. (If you look at the label on the container). This is indicative of the lack of intelligence of too many consumers, since marketeers tend to go with the "winner". Take the term of the day and add This will make the skull think it is a better thing now.
