Questions & Answers

Will this hard drive overheat on a PlayStation 4? I understand that it will be faster than the stock one, but I'm concerned about the heat. ?

I honestly had the original hard drive in and probably played the PS4 for three days. When I put in the western hard drive, it did get warm, but not to the point where I could tell the difference. It does get warm, but not to the point where it did when I put it in the first time.

Is this a new type of hardrive?

Marty, yes, it's all new.

Has anyone had a blue screen with this drive? When my PC is running normally and I hear a click from the hard drive, bluescreen appears. ?

Your hard drive may be overheating, according to one theory. Install Speedfan and keep a close eye on the temperature of your hard drive. A temperature of more than 55 degrees Celsius is considered excessively hot, and my computer's hard drive gets extremely hot! I've been keeping an eye on mine, and it's consistently running at 49.54°C, which is extremely hot.

Is it compatible with HP G4 laptop models?

In my HP Elitebook 8730W, it works flawlessly. The G4 model, however, is unfamiliar to me.

BEWARE - A WARRANTY IS NOT INCLUDED WITH THIS DRIVE! THERE ARE NONE AT ALL! WD is a favorite of mine
3/5

I've been using their drives for over a decade. Now I'm thinking about getting rid of WD. I have one of these, which I purchased on Amazon on January 18, 2020, and it is still sealed. I'm too busy with other computer tasks to install it right now. I was planning on registering it for the WARRANTY RIGHT NOW. What kind of guarantee do you have? We don't have a warranty, despite the fact that it says on Amazon that it has a 5-year warranty? I just got this from the WD warranty site and went back to see if it was still active, and it was!

! OEM Products are not covered by Western Digital's warranty service. br>br>If you have any questions, please contact your distributor or retailer. They're selling this and other drives without a warranty on Amazon. Until this is resolved on WD's end? WD has served its purpose for me. I'm thinking about returning this one. This is referred to as FRAUD!.

READ: The reviews for 1 TB and 750GB are not the same
5/5

750 GB SSD Great for servers and laptops! I have a total of 17 of them in my possession. WARNING: The same review text appears to be used for both the 750GB WD Black and the WD Black 1TB Performance Mobile. So, unless the reviewer was more specific, keep in mind that what you read may not be what you get. They do not share the same drive and have distinct characteristics! I'll make a list of both. RE: br>br>RE: br>br>RE: br>br>RE: The WD Black 750 GB Hard Drive is a solid-state drive with a capacity of 750 gigabytes. 5 stars: br>I've bought around 20 of these so far - Some were purchased from Amazon, while others were purchased from a local computer store. They perform admirably, with no failures in the last three years. As a Raid array, one server has ten of these. Furthermore, unlike many drives, they will not cause false thermal runaway when installed in an HP Proliant DL380 G6 / G7 server. I'd give you a link to an article I wrote about it, but Amazon doesn't like reviews with external URLs. All of this, plus a 5-year warranty on the WD Blacks, a 7200 RPM drive, and In your laptop or server, you simply cannot go wrong with this drive! RE: br>br>RE: br>br>RE: br>br>RE: The WD Black 1TB Performance Mobile Hard Disk is a portable hard disk with a capacity of 1TB. 3 starsbr>br>This isn't even close to a 1 TB version of the 750 GB version. It's a different design that uses a lot more power and can't be used with HP servers without causing thermal runaway. away. It's also a lot hotter (which isn't why it's called a thermal run-up). away, it's due to the drive's temperature value(s)).

After loading about 100GB of data on the drive and editing and exporting maybe 10 photos in Lightroom, the drive CRASHED
3/5

I had three partitions set up, but for some reason, two of the volumes died. Nothing worked, whether it was Windows, Linux, or UBCD. When I first started diagnosing the drive, I noticed that there was already a bad sector. I'm going to clean the hard drive, repartition it for my needs, and try again. If I have any more issues, the product will be returned as defective. I can't believe this is a WD product because I've had dogs walk by and trip over an external hard drive cord before. That hard drive, which had been dead for eight years, had crashed to the carpet. Every photo from my childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood that I had digitized was lost. Believe me when I say that I know how to handle these things (gently and never while they're turned on). The rant comes to an end here. br>br>I bought this from OEMGenuine, who claims to offer a 5-year warranty (based on the sticker on the drive). This is something I'm noting in case it helps anyone else.

These WD Black hard drives are a great deal
4/5

Update 8- To register my two hard drives, I went to the WD website. Because they were purchased through a reseller, they show as having no WD warranty. Just wanted to make sure you were aware. br>br>For our MacBook Air laptop, I use these as primary (and backup) storage. Solid state drives, which are memory chip-based drives rather than physical spinning disks, are now standard on most MacBooks. We could only get a 256 GB SSD with our 2017 MacBook Air; these WD Black (virtually enterprise level) drives are 500 GB each, so our storage is 2x that of the built-in drive. We use one as our primary external drive; once a month, we install the second drive (also externally), copy the files across, and put it into our bank's safe deposit box. We're only 30 days behind if we lose a drive, whether due to failure or theft of our drive and laptop. br>br>The only drawback to this drive is that the Seller, OEMGENUINE, provides the warranty on the drive itself. The drive came with a label stating that it was covered by a Seller 5-year warranty, but no terms were provided. The downside risk is that there is no written warranty, either from the Seller or from WD on their website, and any warranty provided is contingent on the Seller remaining in business for the next five years. Given the drive's low cost ($35), it was a reasonable risk to take, especially since we bought two and use one as a backup to the primary. It's extremely unlikely that you'll lose two drives at once. As a result, we accepted the risk but decided not to write a product review. 1 star for the seller. A 5-year limited warranty is advertised on the WD website. I'm surprised that there isn't a link to the WD warranty on their website. So, if we can't contact OEMGENUINE in the event of a problem, I'm not sure how safe we'll be from WD. If you care about this, it's something to think about. br>br>These are fast drives (7200 rpm for the 500GB drive), which are noticeably faster than the 5400 rpm drives we've previously purchased online and/or removed from existing systems. SATA compatible, plug-and-play, no problems so far, but it's only been a few days. I'll update you if anything significant happens.
