Questions & Answers

Can you tell me how much RAM is in the computer?

32 GB of official storage is supported. My internal memory is 64 GB, and it works fine. There were two Samsung 32GB DDR4 2666MHz RAM Memory Modules The 2V) M471A4G43MB1) power supply. Exactly what I needed. 64 GB has been reported as being no problem by others.

Do the technical details on this product listing appear to be accurate? (Go to I am running Windows 10 on a stick of A 6 GB ddr4 SRAM and a 120 GB HD a solid-state drive containing 1 TB of flash memory)?

The details of this product are wrong. It has no ram, no hard drive, and no All will need to be purchased separately and will need to be self-installed We've installed it. We would like to remind you that all but the small M. It WILL NOT fit with a 2 drive. Intel cannot provide you with customer support or provide you with specifications/parts as this is not their area of expertise. I've had a horrific experience with Intel and my nuc has been nothing more than a $500 paperweight. It will never happen again for me to purchase anything from Intel directly.

How do I replace the wireless card on this device? Is it soldered in or can I replace it?

Soldering connects the WiFi/Bluetooth module to the motherboard, so it cannot be removed or changed. The RAM and SSD are the only components that can be replaced. All other components are soldered and therefore

Has anyone else had issues with overheating?

I've never had any overheating issues with mine, but I can hear the fan running once in a while. The ambient temperature never exceeds 80f in the room though. A lot of my problems occur when the computer is on for days at a time. So the drive has only got one 5" drive) and two 8 GB memory sticks.

Still very loud, despite its size
4/5

They are small, but not silent, and that is the problem with i7 nucs. A generation like this does not fix the problem. It stays between 40 C and 50 C when you are doing simple tasks such as watching videos, working in the office, and really light gaming. When the i7 is being used to its full potential, however, you can expect the computer to hit 85 degrees and make annoying fan noise. The best way I have found to alleviate the fan noise is to turn off TurboBoost from the One of the scripts I have is a Python script that analyzes data. During this time, the package temperature reached 50 degrees (ambient air temperature 23 C). With no turbo boost, it ran for around 19 minutes at that temperature. When the turbo boost was on, it only took 11 minutes, but the fan was super loud and made it feel like it was 90 degrees. In addition, keep in mind that you will need to disable TurboBoost anyway if you want to examine the performance of your code. Additionally, a possible reason for one to look for Akasa's 26W nuc cases would be to investigate if they offer better cooling options. I'd like to talk about Linux compatibility, in my case I have come to expect the microphone to be over driven on nucs (and other PCs I had). Having a 5mm jack that is noisy is not a good idea. You can fix this problem by using a USB headset or microphone, I personally use the Logitech H800 (plus it The thing I find new about the WiFi is that it is now available in There is no display of the fi card on the first boot after the nuc has been To get it to appear, I have to restart it, but I am not sure yet what is causing it. There is one more thing to mention. In terms of software encryption for a NVMe drive, I don't think the BIOS currently supports it. LUKS in Linux is one of many software solutions available.

The service is quick and quiet
5/5

owned the NUC7i5BNH but I sold it because of the constant fan noise or coil whine that was really irritating. This is a) For the 8th generation, Intel has finally listened to its customers and designed a better cooling system for the NUC. There are processors. In addition, the CPUs are Intel's Core i5 There is a great deal of computing power in the 8259U CPU compared to the old i5 CPU There is an issue with these NUCs that they do not have You may need to clean out the accumulated dust from the fan assembly depending on how dusty your environment is. You may experience throttling or even damage to the components of your computer if you don't do this. involves disassembling the NUC nearly completely so that you can access the intake cooling fins on the fan. I have only had mys for a few weeks as of this writing and it is running fast, cool, and quiet. I have found instructions on a few blogs and forums. There should not be a need to clean it for a long time since I placed a thin piece of cloth over the air intake to prevent dust from entering.

It is great hardware, but it is very poorly documented
4/5

In this review, I will speak specifically about the BOXNUC8i5BEH1, the "tall" i5 "kit" that does not contain RAM or hard drives. the i3, i5, and i7 reviews have been bundled together into one listing, except when they're filtered by yourself. In the past, I have owned a number of minivans This PC includes the last generation of Gigabyte, as well as an Atom-based PC Asus is based on the XP operating system. My experience in PC construction ranges from building dozens to hundreds of them. So far, I have used this NUC as a media center (HTPC) and it has been completely silent and emits no heat at all. It is a much better performance than my Gigabyte which sometimes sounded like a hair dryer and my fanless Atom, which ran hot. On the other hand, I am very satisfied with the thermal profile for casual use with this unit.

On the other hand.

The out-of-the-box compatibility is questionable at best. There is no other kit that delivers the worst box experience I have ever seen. There are no instructions or documentation in the manual The phenomenon exists. It omits many details that are essential for assembly, for example, how to adjust the straps. There is no way to specify the direction in which components are inserted, etc.

And Intel's website does not offer any sort of "support". The phenomenon exists. Since the support pages for this thing are only for the non-WIN users, I spent a lot of time trying to figure out where I could get the drivers Versions of the kit and Intel's lack of efforts to clarify it have caused some confusion. The BIOS manual had to be downloaded or accessed in order to configure the BIOS. Anyone with less PC building experience would probably have given up by now. Intel's hardware team has done excellent work with this model, in sum. They are letting the side down with their driver and documentation teams.
