Orwell would be ecstatic with this
5/5

While this is a great little CPU, the real problem with it is that it was made in a country that is fighting us in a biological war, by a company that is willing to attack freedom of speech, and marketed by a company that is also willing to do so. This is the machine for you if you want to control who has access to what information.

Amazing and quick, but there are a few caveats
4/5

First and foremost, the $30 off retail price was fantastic, but the 16GB option would have been preferable. br>br>As a first-time macOS user, I found the setup to be quite difficult. Rosetta appears to work well with certain "unsupported" applications, even when the user does not expect it to, and does so without hiccups or noticeable slowness. This was the case with Runelite, and turning on the GPU plugin made the game a breeze to play. On a LG 3440x1440 IPS display, everything is silky smooth. br>br>However, Firefox (without installing the beta M1 supported version) would frequently freeze and crash, and while plugins seemed to rule it out, certain websites wouldn't work and loading pages after each click took far too long. Another issue I had with Discord was that I couldn't see its login setup screen due to what appeared to be a file association or visual glitch, and I discovered that there is no good uninstaller option natively on macOS other than binning apps to the trash and clearing them from there. So, I had to uninstall a third-party app in order to remove all file associations created when the app was installed in order to get a clean install, and thankfully, the Discord installation went smoothly after that. br>br>Other drawbacks for me include general unsupported SOC from various companies/applications, which would be problematic if I wanted to set up a VM. No eGPU support and no RAM upgradeability, but that's to be expected given the new SOC; it would have been nice to be able to upgrade ourselves (and hopefully make design tweaks to make upgrades easier for users). It would also be nice to see a smaller enclosure footprint for the enclosure, as it appears to be a small SOC based on images I've seen online. br>br>You may find yourself feeling like a beta tester, which can be quite frustrating. So take that as a warning. Hopefully, M1-compatible applications will be released soon. Overall, I'm pleased with the results and look forward to future application support. I would highly recommend it to more casual users because it appears to be a fantastic value in that scenario.

This is a great way to get into Apple Silicon machines
5/5

This is an excellent way to become acquainted with Apple's new Silicon world. It's a small machine, but that's the point of the mini. I'm being generous because this is a new machine and operating system. I'm not bothered by the two USB ports. I deal with the lack of storage by using an external 6TB disk, which has three ports. The price reduction is a welcome sign, as minis had become prohibitively expensive. It offers excellent value for money, in my opinion.

I bought a second one because I liked it so much
5/5

The reviews weren't exaggerated in any way - This is a computer that performs admirably. , This is the first computer I've ever owned that is fast while also generating no heat. In the almost two weeks I've had it, it has never been even slightly warm. cold all the time- It's as if it's not turned on at all. I have two Intel Nucs that are nearly identical to this Mini, and while they are excellent machines, they have been warm at times. Apple has figured out a way to be as fast as/faster than Intel while using less power. br>br>One disadvantage of new technology is that it necessitates the development of software. In the meantime, it runs on emulation, which allows older software to run on it, but this is only a temporary solution. Firefox started out that way two weeks ago, but they've since rewritten it and no longer require emulation. br>br>Risc-based processors aren't new (they were used in the Dinosaur movies), but processors that are fast without consuming a lot of power or getting hot are. If this is a harbinger of things to come, I pity Intel. br>br>I was so impressed with the computer's performance that I ordered a second one with more memory and gave it to my fiancé.

Apple Mac Mini M1 2020 Apple Mac Mini M1 2020 Apple Mac Mini M1 2020 Apple Mac Mini This is the third Mac Mini we've bought in the last 13 years for the family to use as a desktop computer (we also have a Macbook Pro 2018 for a laptop)- This replaced a late 2014 Mac Mini that we bought in June of 2015 and was starting to give us problems with constant beach ball and slowing down, making it impossible to properly load the Big Sur, so we traded it in for the new Mac Mini M1 2020
4/5

br>After getting a trade-in price for the old MacMini and the $100, it's a fantastic deal. Apple has reduced the price by 00. This machine is extremely fast, which is a plus. However, it lacks I/O, as it only has two USB ports. Two USB A inputs and a C/Thunderbolt 4 input As a result, I deducted the fifth star. This unit is still well worth the money!.

Paper weight is $900
3/5

This machine's allure is a sham because it refuses to accept any audio interfaces. Thunderbolt and USB have both been tried. Neither of them are functional. Also, "Big Sur" does not have any new drivers - As a result, you're basically f'd. This is useless nonsense if you want to make, record, or use audio in any way. It must be removed. br>.

This is a fantastic way to re-enter the Mac world
5/5

Last year, I got a Dell 7590 2 in 1 to replace my 2011 Macbook Pro. Because I do a lot of photo editing on my laptop, I went all out. Then, when I saw that these were available, I simply purchased the base model, which is excellent. It connects to my Dell USB drive and works fine. If I want to switch machines, c docks perfectly. I leave the hdmi and all of my peripherals plugged into the dock and only use one cable to connect the mini to it. Even with my Dell speaker bar, it works. It also has additional Thunderbolt ports, which I appreciate. There are two of them! I'm used to having only one USB-connected device (1 USB-connected device). Only c) the price and performance are excellent.
