Questions & Answers
This isn't a LightScribe drive, so don't expect it to work.
This drive, according to Plextor's website, is compatible with Windows XP.
It is internal, and it depends on the burner software you have. Some require you to rip it into your computer and then burn it to disc in the same burner, while others, such as dvdfab, allow you to burn disc to disc but require two dvd burners.
This drive can copy CD G content; however, to burn the CD G format accurately, you'll need software or a duplicator that can work with it. Without the accompanying CD G burning software, the drive will be unable to copy the content.
Selected User Reviews For Plextor PlexWriter PX-891SAF-R 24X SATA DVD +/- RW Dual Layer Burner Drive (Retail Pack)
This DVD RW is extremely quiet and easy to use. It does, however, come with a software disk that should not be used in any way. Unless you're desperate to put malware on your computer. If you read the critical reviews on the manufacturer's website, you'll notice that the software disk is intentionally corrupted to help the "free" software provider make money. I ran Bitdefender on the disk to see if it was infected with viruses, and it came back clean. Using Malwarebites, however, all of the included files were found to contain extremely malicious invasive malware. Use the Drive, Cable, and Screws. However, if you want to keep your computer as your own, shred the software disk, as I did.
This product received excellent user reviews, but it was slightly more expensive than most of its competitors. I bought less expensive brands, had problems, and had to replace them, which cost more money. Save yourself a lot of time and effort by going for the best option right away. This concludes the discussion. It has performed admirably for me and is now my preferred CD/DVD drive.
I didn't require any additional software or drivers. This does exactly what it says it will do, and it is quick enough for my needs. br>Price is reasonable, and I am satisfied with the product.
BEWARE! br>MALWARE is present in the software (Plextools Lite) included on the DVD with this drive. The malware is quite sophisticated. It contains W32/OpenCandybr>(see image)br> br>I double-checked this version of ImgBurn to make sure it wasn't a false positive. br>The disc's ImgBurn program is infected. br>Do not use the software that comes with it.

" I've used a lot of "burners" over the years, and this one so far outperforms them all in terms of speed and quietness, as well as accuracy. I'm going to get one for my other computer as well. With the passage of time, I hope they will continue to be "quick quiet" performers.
I've tried a few others, but I always end up back at Plextor. Others function for a short period of time before experiencing problems. Plextor is a problem-free, quiet, and smooth-running device.
Plextor was purchased for the first time. I've used other brands such as LG and Asus, but I believe this Plextor drive is superior; the first thing I noticed was how quiet it is. I recently purchased a new desktop computer, but it is only equipped with a slimline tray burner drive and is not motorized. It will eject automatically, but you must close it manually. I burn DVDs on a regular basis. After burning, the software I use to verify the burn requires that I cycle the tray. That is precisely what this drive accomplishes. I used a Vantec USB3 to install it. 0 external enclosure (which I bought on Amazon) and have had no issues with Windows 10 recognizing the drive or reading or writing discs. I didn't use the disk for the software that came with the drive because I read reviews that said not to. In any case, I already had Imgburn installed. I also didn't require the CD burner XP software. I would buy this drive again if the need arose.
I had no issues with it.
