Despite my new Lenovo Windows 7 work station not having a fax modem, I cannot fax documents. It came loaded with memory so high-end business applications could run on it. It was a pleasure working with the Fujitsu scanner attached. thought it would be great to have a fax/modem card on my PC. The pages need to be scanned in, the fax software launched, and the fax is off. It's not exactly what you think. If I compare it to my 8-year-old Canon L170 fax machine, the computer modem is as slow as molasses. Sending a fax through the computer requires approximately a minute per page, which is four times the time of sending it over the phone. It took 6 minutes to send a 6 page fax, not exactly an Olympic record. Besides, having to keep a fax open for 6 minutes can be very difficult and often the fax won't go through.
