As far as I can tell, the Circuit Board is working. I've tested it with Windows 10 and it works great. It is necessary to hook up your camcorder to your desktop computer using the cable that comes with it. Please do not use this on a laptop. By using this Board, you will be able to record Video from a DV cassette and extract a digital copy of the video onto your desktop so that you can edit the file and then save to the Internet or a DVD. Additionally, you can transfer the edited video file back onto the DV cassette if you need to. I have no complaints about this product. Upon recognition by Windows, we did not have to do anything else. There is no need to download or install any drivers. It was Windows that made all the magic happen. We recommend this product over and over again.
I decided, however, that it was worth a try before I spent $100+ on another 1394 cardset. As it turned out, it was a good decision to put my money into this card. As soon as I popped this thing into the PCI-Express I took advantage of the E slot and began transferring my old miniDV tapes immediately.
There seems to be an issue with the card, but I quickly popped it in to my AMD/Asus Win10 machine (in a full PCI slot, actually) and all the devices (audio interface, ext optical drive, and the card itself) were recognized and worked It's all good.
No problems at all.
After reading all of the advice available online, I tried to get this card to work but it does not. Based on my experience with AMD Ryzen processors, I suspect it has something to do with them, but I'm not.
It is the first time I have attempted to use a firewire board. My Presonus Firestudio Project would not let me run on my computer after four hours of trying. Based on other reviews, the board I needed was the I had the same result with that one. The good news is that I already know what I need to do to sync it.
In any case, it was a small unit and fortunately, it came with a half height mount so that it fit pretty well. It was ordered for my own use. Can you tell me what else you have?.
It fits neatly in a new computer, works as expected, and Windows 10 found and installed the drivers automatically.
All you have to do is plug and play. Adobe premiere was used to capture video and this card to record it. PCIe is the form factor of this card. The first step it to check your motherboard, because you don't need to install any drivers beforehand. Turn on the computer, plug it in, and Windows will handle.
