The advertised feature is that the second fan will be controlled by the first. Disclaimer This is not a 100% accurate translation. It will spin at a slower speed than the second one. Even with both fans spinning at "max" speed, you can see that the difference is quite obvious. There is no point in having a splitter if it defeats the purpose. I have noticed my radiator is not staying cool as well as it used to because the second fan is not spinning as fast as it used to.
These cables and cable extenders seem to have good reviews, but I am unable to understand why. The Noctua products have never failed me so far. If you plug any fan into this, the connectors are so loose, you have to secure the connection with a zip tie or electrical tape to prevent the fan from falling. The connections are very poorly measured. This is not snug in any way. The problem is. So far, I have not encountered any problems with the wires. My connected are now working as intended after taping them.
If you would like to power, for example, two CPU fans from a single 4 pin motherboard fan connector, this product will do the trick! When I first opened the box, I had mixed feelings. I was looking forward to using and installing them until it came time to do so. The first stage of my project was to curve the case so that the curved section points upward. Essentially, the splitter was rendered useless when one of the wires failed to attach to the fan header and I threw it away. While the sleeves make these look great, it also makes them feel stiff and doesn't flex well, causing them to curl in many cases. In order to use these fans, your best bet is to use a fan hub so they don't stick straight out of your motherboard. The only time you wouldn't need these is if you bought a laptop with extra ports. The quality of their splitters appears good, but their actual usability is terrible, and I would advise you not to buy these particular ones in the future. As soon as I removed them, I replaced them with a small Silverstone fan hub and was much more satisfied. Noctua may be able to revise these, as this was my first product from them, and while they perform technically, I do not like how they appear to be built. The actual use of it is just awful.
In order to build my PC, I had to get some fan header splitter cables. My previous experience of owning noctua cables made me certain that these cables would deliver high quality, and they didn't fail to deliver. There is a premium unboxing experience with the packaging, and the cables are of I chose the Chromex black to match my Chromex NH-10 A pair of U12s from Noctua gave my PC a premium look and matched my cables perfectly. Excellent product. I would highly recommend it.
This was not a straight through. What I expected wasn't what I got. I had to modify these connectors by pulling out pins and putting them in different spots in the plug, since they were not straight through 4 pin to 4 pin connectors. That's when they began to work for me. It feels a little cheap and the sleeves could be smaller so that they are less baggy and awkward where the sleeving is terminated by the heat shrink tubing.
So I ordered these as I needed a couple of fans connected to the motherboard of my PC but only had one remaining fan header. While the price is in line with others on Amazon, the cables sleeves match my power supply perfectly, and they look much nicer than many of them. It is a good product that I would recommend and would buy again in the future.
