Mount your cooler in an area where it will draw heat OUT of your cabinet, thus bringing in cooler air that will not get impeded by other air flowing through By blowing into the cabinet you might cause air to not be able to leave it as quickly and thus you would get air blowing around inside the cabinet, impeding airflow into it. To put it another way, it would be like blowing into a paper cup with a pretty small hole in it. You can only blow so much air into the cup, and the rest will come out of it. Rather than potentially encounter this issue, pull in air that is being exhausted out by the fan and use it as a source of airflow through the cabinet.
You can use the clear plastic template to guide you as you install the fan. You can just tape it to the cabinet wall that you will be mounting the fan on. has a square shape of a little over 5 inches. There are five and a half inches between the face and the lip of the fan. In addition, you will have to drill four mounting holes for the screws. The template makes this easy to do as well. After hand-sawing through the thin, paneling for 10 minutes, I was able to cut through the fence. The board backing of my entertainment cabinet looks like this. I had a bad start but they ended up working really well. Initially, my experience with these fans (bought two of them) started out rather bleak, but in the end they delivered very Two of the fans made noise, one of them stopped working soon after it was installed. I found out that this was an item from a batch of defective products. In an effort to fix the problem as quickly as possible, the company bent over backwards. We received and installed the replacement fans, and they are quietly still doing well 4 months after installation. I would like to request a refund for 2 AC Infinity AIRPLATE S3 products based on the following reasons I bought two of these in May 2016 and installed them on my media-server (daisy chained to the Turbo Adapter). June was the month for the computer cabinet. A small netbox PC is housed in the cabinet, connected to a Seagate HDD (2TB powered), and a phone charger. I had an ATT cable box as well as a couple of smaller, associated gizmos. When tested, the cabinet blocked the wifi signal coming from the Sonos bridge and ATT router (they are located on top of the cabinet, not in it). The first AC Infinity AirPlate S3 quit working for an unknown reason back in August, the second one is still working, but has started making a loud clanging noise. This is the first time that I've troubleshooted these (thanksgiving vacation) without success. They were removed from the cabinet mounts, the frames were dusted, the bolts on the frames were checked (and none were loose). I then inspected and dusted them again. It only took me 2 days to receive replacements, and they have been fine ever since. AC Infinity is an excellent company to do business with. I felt their service was impeccable, and their products were a good value for money. Whether a business succeeds or fails depends on how it responds to adversity. AC Infinity virtually taught a class on how to turn around a bad customer service situation.
In a nutshell, In conjunction with the quiet USB cooling fans I placed on top of my amplifier, I found this fan to be well designed. The fans were purchased in order to allow my amplifier, located inside a completely enclosed area of my entertainment center, to cool down. When I installed the fan on the top and left the back side of the enclosed area open, I also had to drill a 3" hole on the bottom, which is needed when this is set An exhaust fan should be located near the top of the area and an inlet hole on the bottom, except if you are not in a totally enclosed space. Before I installed the fans, I noticed that the temperature in the enclosed space was 90° (see photo in my review). Now, it runs at around 72°, so the temperature has definitely decreased inside the enclosure. In addition to having three 3" air intake holes (see picture), I have two cooling fans on top of the amplifier and one exhaust fan on the rear of the entertainment center. In addition to having three speeds and the ability to daisy chain together, these fans are extremely quiet. One of the best parts of these speakers is that they can be controlled either via a USB input on the back of your TV or amplifier or 90 V DC by using an adapter. To power these fans, I plug them into one of the USB ports on the back of my TV. Consequently, only when I am watching TV and using the entertainment center will they come on.
