In the past, I had a DVD/CD burner from 10+ years ago that worked nicely, but all of a sudden it refused to recognize certain CDs, especially the ones decided to get a new optical drive, since I suspected it was the old optical drive that was malfunctioning. The ink I use goes perfectly with my MacBook Pro 13" 2017 with a fresh copy of OS X. I can only say that it continues to work flawlessly and that every CD appears to be being detected. This device has a couple of minor flaws, and the cable from the drive to the USB hub is somewhat shorter than I expected. Having now ripped more than 50 CDs, everything seems to be going well. With the new drive, there is a lot less noise and a lot less weight. It is worth noting that the previous optical drive required an external power supply, while the new one does not. In the meantime, I am working on this review while using the drive. It is very difficult to find any complaints.
