2 out of 5 stars for blatantly deceptive marketing. The fact that it plays 4k HD and 3D is clearly stated on the box. Then it says in small print in the bottom right hand corner that "UltraHD Bluray Disc" is not supported, which is, HELLO - 4k! This should have come as no surprise to me. On a PC, you can only play 4K Blu-rays if they are M-rated. DISC. I'll keep the drive for other purposes, but this is a major misrepresentation. br>br>What it really means is that it can read and write discs in the BDXL format. However, you will not be able to play a purchased UHD bluray movie.
Ray is an M-level writer. Support for DISC (BRXL-DISC) PT6U2VB),Black PT6U2VB,Black PT6U2VB,Black PT6 br>When you open the box, you'll find a mini CD with software that takes 20 minutes to install (I only installed the movie player and the Blueray writer; I didn't get all the bloatware that came with the CD). The first thing you'll notice is that it's extremely loud, to the point where you won't be able to enjoy a movie with that noise. Second, the movies never played for one simple reason: It requires you to give them personal information like email and name, but I omitted that step and in exchange the movies won not play, and every time you try to do anything.
Because the Cyberlink software is outdated and no longer works, you must burn files using Windows 10 drag and drop. Updating is difficult on Cyberlink's quirky website, and you'll be bombarded with spam.
A USB 2 port was included with the drive. 0 cable with an additional (power-supply-supply-supply-supply-supply-supply- USB cable (the only one) is connected. When you remove the cable from the side, you'll see a full-length mirror. USB 3. 0 port size 0 Micro port, which should give the drive more power while also increasing the computer's speed. While the cable is designed to be compact, the USB leads are so short (about 6" [15cm]) that it sacrifices speed and ease of connection to the computer. The device is compatible with Mac, Windows, and Linux once connected. However, you may want to use a longer USB 3 to USB 3 Micro cable instead of the included one, and keep the included cable for emergencies.
br>It's also very likely to do everything else it says it can. br>As others have pointed out, the cables are quite short, and I only needed one of them to play BD discs, though other functions may necessitate the use of the other. On the plus side, when not in use, the cables are restrained and do not obstruct traffic. br>On the disk, you'd find the entire CyberLink 12 suite. The suite will not replace any existing version (such as PowerDVD 14) because each product is installed in a directory with the version number in its name. br>However, the free versions of PowerDVD do not support Blu-ray discs. As a result, Ray, be ready to upgrade or find something else. BD discs are supported by PowerDVD 18 Ultra.
I got a Blu-ray player for Christmas. Ray had previously used a different company's vehicle and had nothing but problems with it. What a difference it made when I returned it and bought this Buffalo drive! I was watching a movie in under two minutes after opening the box! (I didn't try to install anything from the enclosed disk because I already had the most recent version of the software downloaded from the internet. ) )br>br>I was able to use the drive on both my laptop and desktop without any issues. It's worth noting that it includes two USB cables, one of which can be used for charging. The second cable has never been used. The unit is powered perfectly by the main (thicker) cable. br>br>However, the USB cable is extremely short. BUT, because I like how it stores neatly around the unit, I'll put up with the short cable in exchange for the storage. (The USB power cable, which is thinner, is hidden beneath the device. ) The thicker USB data cable wraps around the unit's side, and the plug itself has a gripper piece that slides into a groove and secures the cable. )br>br>Strongly suggested!.
Three different software programs reported a write error message on the burner. I assumed it was a disc issue, so I tried burning a disc with another burner I had, and it worked fine. I'm talking to a Buffalo customer service rep who isn't willing to help me because the product is of poor quality. A dreadful product from a dreadful firm!.
This is fantastic! It is ready to use as soon as you plug it in, as Windows 7 and higher recognize it automatically. It can also withstand a lot of abuse in terms of time (I've left it running for over 12 hours on several occasions) and still perform admirably. Plays Blu-ray discs purchased from a store without a hitch. br>br>It can burn BD-R discs. BD-R discs and R discs are two different types of discs. With ease, R DL discs. It's compatible with Nero Burning ROM, IMG Burn, and Convert X to DVD, among other programs. It also has a DVD-burning feature. The letters R and DVD stand for Discs with the letters R on them. It will only work if you have two USB ports available. I'm so fond of this drive that I recently purchased a second one! (April 2018) br>br>(April 2018) br>br>(April 2018) br>br>.
