How Our Score Is Calculated

Product Description

This UHD 4K Blu-ray writer super-muti drive is the best in its class.
BD-R compatible with M-DISC. An aluminum body that has been CNC-cut.
When used with the proper software, a UHD blu-ray drive can read UHD movies as well as regular Blu-ray, DVD, and CDs. In general, you can use whatever software your computer comes with, or you can search for the right software to install on your computer for regular Blu-ray, DVD, and CD drives. Our recommendation is to use "CyberLink PowerDVD" when playing UHD Blu-ray. third-party application that must be purchased in addition to the free trial, but it is the only one that we found to be
If you are planning to purchase CyberLink PowerDVD, please run a test by searching " Ultra HD Blu-ray Advisor " to make sure your hardware meets the specifications. Note that there is currently only one Cyberlink PowerDVD version available for PCs. As far as we know, MAC users do not have access to any suitable UHD blu-ray software. Therefore, you cannot play or record UHD on a Mac computer. The only format supported is regular Blu-ray, DVD, and CD.
Playback software or firmware downgrades should never be used illegally. In the extreme case, the UHD drive might be damaged.

Questions & Answers

Is the drive truly capable of burning B- What are the benefits of XL, UHD, and 4K ?

Yes, I understand. A four layer BdXL can be burnt with this unit, according to its specifications There is no special format for 4K data. It is simply stored on BDXL discs. Then, if it is able to write data to a BDXL disc, that disc can hold 4K data. DRM is the only difference between a 4K capable BDXL drive and one that does not, and it only applies to commercial discs (a non 4K drive can technically play a commercial 4K disc, but it won't do it because it does not support the protection).

Does anyone know of anyone who has used this for 4K UHD Blu-ray How do I backup my Blu-ray files ?

In fact, I downgraded to my original firmware after downgrading. Although everyone claims it can decrypt the digital disc, 00 MakeMKV was unable to do so. Likewise, I tried AnyDVD and it did not work In any case, the firmware downgrade worked because I successfully ripped with DVDFab with no problems at all. As of right now, AnyDVD and MakeMKV haven't figured out how to do it.

Do you think this would work on a window pc? Why is blu- referred to as a "blue" color Are you in need of the ray software?

Mac users and PC users will need to install the Blu-ray drive, but they don't have to worry about the Mac version A Blu-ray player or writer must have software to play or write You can find them on blu ray discs.

Is it true that this drive is able to play UHD disks and that one review says it is and one says it is not?

A UHD player on its own does not suffice. To fulfill all the requirements, you need to provide all the information. An accurate modern processor (unfortunately, an Intel only one). It is the correct video card. It is the right And so on. The general rule is You have a 4K compatible drive if you can access the disc and see the files on it, but it won't play the disc. Anything else should be unusable.

There is no such thing as that phrase
3/5

The third Archgon Premium Aluminum External USB 3 device that I use is now in my possession. The UHD Blu-ray player supports UHD Blu-ray players The ideal driver for Apple laptops is the "ray Writer Super Driver for Mac" Apple's PowerBook (hereinafter APED) has been around for about the same amount of time. Despite gentle use and regular rotation though not continuously, the first DVD player lasted about two years before it began freezing up or skipping. In the second case, it wheezed for about eight months, then I returned it to Amazon and received a refund of 80%. Now that I've been using #3 for three months, I think it's time to switch. The first month has been good to me. It is not expected to last. When your product has such a checkered history of performance, why do you keep using the same product? In the first place, I can't afford anything more expensive that might perform more reliably. Secondly, technology experts whom I trust have said that they know of no comparable product that is more reliable or better at the same price point. The sigh continues. To answer a couple of basic questions, please There is no doubt that this product is easy to use, while it is young and usable Then place that device - with or without its supplemental cable - into the USB port(s) of your Mac. A DVD player or Blu-ray player is stated to be included with this device A Blu-ray disc from a Region 1 to a Region 6. One brief attempt has been made with a U. S. Region 2 (U. S. There was no difference in the results when using the) disc. Handle it with care, as its apparent fragility and short life expectancy suggest it is fragile. The case is made of durable plastic and should be kept in the Whenever I retire, I also place a saucer of milk out for it in an effort to calm it. A supplemental warranty can be purchased when the manufacturer's own is no longer valid. As far as my experience goes, you will almost certainly require I will end on a somber note When Apple decided that (a) laptops should be designed as slender as onions, it did as follows It must be considered that (a) users from around the globe would immediately eliminate their DVD, CD, and Blu-ray collections once they purchase skin As long as our computers still came with built-in disc players and we didn't need this complex product, we'd still have built-in disc players. The following update was made 32 days after it was first published Only after four months of sporadic use (a half-hour at most every two or three days) did that third Archgon I owned give out. On Tuesday, the CD player simply quit working after I tried to play my In my treatment of machinery, I follow these guidelines I never dropped the unit or handled it in a way that caused it harm. A 120-day period of intermittent use was all it took for it to die. In the past few months, I have gotten rid of my three-year-old Change the rating from one star to two stars. This product is of inferior quality for whatever reason - cheap materials or incompetent manufacture - and I cannot recommend it. While I do not take joy in the review, the spoiled milk in my saucers has decreased. I have a second update 84 days later The IT wizards at the firm where I work resuscitated my third disc drive, which had died 52 days ago, in the interests of accuracy and fairness to Archgon, whose employees must put bread on the table like the rest of us. On Monday night, I used it to play both a CD and DVD. As of yet, I haven't attempted any of my Blu-ray projects No point in pushing my luck, so I'm going to lay low. There are now too many boring technological soap operas to keep up with. I love the little surprises and suspense that come my way every day What are the chances that the machine will work today? As a result of this unreliability, I will leave my rating at one star, try pacifying the device with another saucer of milk, maybe laced with I strike it from the list. It gets the milk from the gizmo. It's OK if you give me the alcohol. The following is the final update I finally gave up on this product a year and nearly two months after I first purchased it. It was one evening that I was watching a DVD on it. My cup of milk was on the table, so I stopped play to go to the kitchen. After a few attempts, I was unable to coax the machine to play, even though it had never been disconnected. The DVD player did not play any more DVDs. The CD player could play CDs but, given its steep price, this was not enough. Blu-ray can be found at blu-ray Rays, you can put them away. This was a capability that I had long ago given up. Please understand that I am attempting to clarify things for anyone reading this review who is trying to decide whether or not to make the 1 *br /*br I had just picked up my THIRD Archgon external disc player in the same time period. As a result, I was willing to grant the manufacturer the benefit of the doubt and, during that time, was told by acquaintances that it was probably the best equipment I could have expected. They all died within the space of a year, give or take, and were identical to the one under review. Please see 2. The only attempt with a Blu-ray player I made was on one occasion In fact, I haven't tried anything more complex than (a) playing a CD on this unit via my laptop, or (b) playing a standard DVD through the same network. 2.
3. During my time in these units, I didn't abuse any of them. In the enclosed zippered boxers that came with the unit all of the clothing was safely stored after use, or after attempts to use it. Hydrochloric acid was never dumped on a unit, dropped, jostled, submerged in water, or submerged in water. There was nothing disturbing about all the items on my desk. 2. 3. 4. It is possible that my problem could have been caused by one or more factors, but I cannot prove that. This unit may simply work better on a PC than on a Mac. A look at the oddly designed cables that come with the unit supports that theory. It is in the best interests of the manufacturer, then, if that conjecture were to be founded in fact, to warn its users that its product is not consistently compatible with Apple. Connect the plug to the computer It may have been possible that the connections from disc drive to laptop had eroded over time, even though, once again, I was very gentle when plugging, never putting pressure on them. I spoke with a tech specialist today who hypothesized that the built-in laser for playing DVDs may have simply failed In fact, three identical units were tested at the same time. Is there anyone who Is it really that important? As far as I was concerned, I made sure Archgon had every opportunity to succeed. There have been three times in the past three years when it failed. In the past few months, I have begun using my last Archgon product. While I purchased a warranty on the unit, by now, I am so frustrated that I will simply eat the money I wasted, and start fresh in a new direction, satisfying I wish you the best of luck.

Although it can read 4K UHD, it is not very fast
4/5

My goal with this drive is to rip UHD onto makemkv, but initially it wouldn't work as it had a kind of 1 setting. Currently, there is firmware version 01 available. In order to get to the 1. I had to flash There was no firmware installed, and the libredrive was turned on. It now reads my UHDs and I am able to stream on plex. On YouTube, there is a video tutorial titled "UHD friendly ultra HaxOr guide to hacking a Blu Ray drive". BU40N is the model number of this drive.

I'm glad you like it! You can do it if you know how
4/5

We'll say more I had previously hooked my external Blu-ray player up to my computer I went on the lookout for a new blu-ray drive after the previous one failed. I just learned about this one, and based on the good reviews, thought I'd In my Unraid Tower I already have another UHD-friendly hard drive, but I thought that I should spend a bit more money to get it even though I already had one. I'm glad you like it! You can do it if you know how. Having to do what you have to do in order to get it to read up to UHD 4K discs prevents me from giving this a full 5 star rating. There is no firmware on it that you need, so you'll have to use a computer to revert it back to its factory settings. For this to work, you must go to the MakeMKV forums and download the right package. Check out this video on YouTube about "How to Flash 4K UHD Blu-ray" to learn how to do it yourself The Best Way to Rip Movies and Videos The following is information about the Making MKV for TV Shows by TroyPoint program. In the exact same way, he shows you where to get it and walks you through the process. It took me an entire morning to research this and I thought I should not have done It turned out that I did not select the correct firmware to flash when I got the pack I needed. You can also watch some other videos he has on his YouTube channel if you're new to this. As soon as I flashed my UHD discs with the correct firmware, they worked fine. I really love how fast this drive is and how well it works with DVD and regular Blu-ray A Blu-ray Disc and an Ultra HD Blu-ray This is Ray's. I have to say, that thing is loud! Below is a video in 2 parts for you to listen to. There's no doubt it sounds like a spaceship taking off, as the other reviews describe! I have no idea what this means in terms of build quality, so I'll update my review if I run into any problems. Otherwise, I am pleased with my purchase and it has been working well.

It does not play every UHD disk, but when it does it is pretty good
4/5

It's a pretty cool thing. The first time I used it, I was in love. Our biggest collection of movies is Blu-rays, and this player played them flawlessly. Two of our UHD movies were played without errors, and we were delighted with the speed of the read. It is only capable of playing UHD disks that caused us to acquire this drive. We were unable to play any of the remaining 20 UHD disks using this device. It seems that some compatibility issues remain that have led us to return this player (sadly). Despite its 4 stars, I think this issue is likely to be due to 'too much of a good thing' Early in life This is for As a result- Our disks would have been at fault if they had been at fault', but that was not the case. Our UHD disks all play perfectly on the UHD player in our home (I will not identify the brand or model in this review). Therefore, we were disappointed to find that this device could not be used universally to play our UHD disks. Sadly, we won't be able to hold on to the house. As a result, we already have other portable Blu-ray drives that we will continue to use until we are able to purchase a suitable travel-sized one The player is a Blu-ray player with UHD-ready capabilities so we recommend it for Blu-ray. Currently, there isn't a good level of compatibility.

There is an UltraHD Blu-ray player on this device You can now buy Blu-ray There is an UltraHD Blu-ray player on this device Ray discs can be played, but only if you have the appropriate hardware and software
5/5

There is a computer in my home with a Core i7- processor A 6-core Intel Core i8650U processor and an Intel UHD Graphics 620 GPU. The CyberLink PowerDVD 18 Ultra I have is also a great product. It is necessary to have a computer monitor (or TV) that supports HDR in order to utilize the full features of UHD play. You can buy a UHD Blu-ray disc if you don't want to go through all the trouble Playback via HDMI or an AV receiver (with an A Blu-ray version of this item is available Although good Blu-ray players cannot burn optical discs, you can use them to play them. There is noise from the unit when it spins a disc fast, but this is typical of players of this class. UHD Blu-ray plays in Apple computers but not in other devices In terms of Blu-ray discs, Apple computers are ready for it as of December 31, 2018 (although the new hardware is not yet ready). Although some special software is available to rip a disc and run the ripped files, this method is not the easiest.
