Questions & Answers

Where can I get a replacement key or battery for my Lexus 330 from 2005?

This company Stauber lexus key shell provided us with excellent service. We had the original key, but the shell had broken, so the key would not work in the car unless we purchased the shell to hold it. Six months later, it's still going strong.

Is it powered by a battery?

I misplaced the key to my Lexus gs300 from 2001. I ordered a replacement key shell and a blade, but now I'm missing the guts (remote internal components). Is this something I can get on Amazon, and if so, how do I order it?

Is it compatible with a 2003 RX300?

It is compatible with the RX300 from the year 2005.

Is it compatible with my Toyota Land Cruiser, which was manufactured in 1999? I can't believe it took this long for the first one to end. thanks?

Take a look at a key from a Lexus IS300 from 2001, as well as the key body without the case. If it appears to be similar, it might work.

Before you buy a metal key, make sure you know what kind of metal it is
3/5

Check for a T-shape on your metal key. The end of the key has a shaped head that fits inside the plastic key shell. To reveal it, you'll most likely have to dismantle the plastic housing (use box-cutter). pliers or a cutter). This design does not appear to be present on all Lexus keys. The T- To lock it into place on the STAUBER key shell, it must have a specific shape. Lexus' key design has evolved over time, and your metal key may not be compatible with this item. br>br>I noticed that the metal key piece on my broken Lexus key is straight on the end, going inside the plastic shell. Instead of a T-shirt, you'll get a T-shirt. It has small indented notches in the shape where plastic tabs should secure it in place. br>br>When I discovered it didn't work, I was disappointed, but I remembered an older broken key I had that had the T-mark on it. After all, it's in good shape, so I'm going to be able to use it. br>br>I'm giving it three stars because it didn't warn me about the different types of Lexus metal keys that might not fit, and it's also cheap and ugly. It's hoped that it will outlast the Lexus keys, which break down every few years.

One caveat to mention: this is a good solution for broken key shells
5/5

When your Lexus key breaks, anyone who owns one knows (or SHOULD know) what to do. You're about to spend a lot of money if you lose that inside piece with the transponder that's connected to your car's engine immobilizer system. I had only one key when I bought my Lexus used. When it broke, I looked online for replacements and found that they all required an uncut key and an empty shell into which you could drop your fob/transponder. Those parts aren't too expensive, but you'll need to find a locksmith or take it to a Lexus dealer to have the key cut. More money and an increase in the amount of work. This Stauber piece was the solution, and it was as easy as putting my existing key and fob into the shell, tightening four screws, and calling it a day. One caveat: you'll have to extract your key from the broken shell, which might not be easy! Because my key had been "molded" in, I had to use a dremel to remove it. To cut the plastic that surrounds it, use a tool like this. I didn't want to cut into the metal key because it needed to fit snugly in the Stauber shell, so it took about ten minutes of careful work. I'm not sure how I'd have gotten the key out if it hadn't been for the dremel. Aside from that, it's easy peasy, and I've got a good key! ***update**
br>br>15 months later, the plastic part holding the Stauber to my keyring has broken. The housing is in good condition, and everything functions properly, but the key is now "on its own. " I'm not overjoyed because that makes my one unhappy. Only the Lexus key is a little easier to misplace, but I imagine that part is under a lot of strain. However, I'm considering replacing this with a different brand of housing.

Once you've put it together, it's a nice case
5/5

My 2008 Lexus Rx400h key's cracked case was replaced with this. Some of the plastic that was stuck to the metal part of my key had to be cracked off - Plastic must not be present in any way on the metal part. I had previously used super glue to repair the old case, but all the old plastic came off after I pounded the metal part with a hammer. Then it slid into the new shell like a glove. The shell is equipped with four Torx-like fasteners. like screws, but it also comes with a little L-shaped L-shaped L-shaped L-shaped L-shaped L-shaped L-shaped L-shaped L- To tighten the screws, use a shaped wrench with the correct tip. Because the wrench is small and the screws are snug, it took some effort to get them all the way in. To avoid stripping the small screws, make sure you press down hard as you turn the wrench. It's a nice solid case once everything is put together and tightened (everything fits snug and there are no gaps between the shell halves). I've been using it daily for over a week and have already dropped it on concrete once. There is no wiggle in the key, and the buttons fit perfectly. There were no issues at all.

Before you buy anything, read this
3/5

Otherwise, it's possible that you won't be able to use it. This key shell is a good buy and a tough one at that. However, you must be cautious in your application. Because Lexus makes the metal key part in the shape of a "T," which fits into this replacement shell exactly, the shell only works if you're replacing an ORIGINAL Lexus key shell. If you try to replace an aftermarket part with a genuine one, you'll end up with a You'll have a lot of trouble finding a market shell because the metal portion is usually not marked with a "T" - It's just a straight shaft glued into the shell plastic, so when you remove the metal piece from the aftermarket, it'll look like this. There is no metal on the sides of the key shaft for this replacement shell to grab onto when screwing it together, as there is on the market shell. It's just not going to work. The after-effects The replacement shell's market metal key portion will simply fall out. In the upper-right corner, you'll find a key. The correct shape of the metal portion can be seen in the right-hand image. If there is no visible metal on each side of the key shaft you intend to use, it will most likely not work.

This fob is a good replacement for a broken OEM fob
5/5

This replacement was chosen over the zillion others because it appears to be a better execution for replacing the OEM key fob on my 2007 Lexus RX350. Although it appears to have mouse ears and is a little wonky in appearance, the key fits snugly and does not wobble. It also covers the t-shirt. Unlike the others, this key has a completely different shape. br>Installation is a breeze. I didn't even bother to read the directions. Simply open your OEM key fob and remove the small electronic box, which will fit perfectly into the new one. The metal key from the OEM fob is then snapped off, and the plastic components are held and removed with pliers to reveal the T-slot. head. It's not necessary to grasp or twist the object tightly. The plastic will simply peel away from the key, revealing a clean metal surface. Then you insert this key into the new fob's slot (do not use the supplied spacers because they will cause a gap in the fob). Finally, use the supplied wrench to tighten the four screws, and your Lexus key should be as good as new. The only caution is to ensure that the t-shirt comes with an OEM key. If you don't turn your head, this fob won't work. br>All right, let's get this party started. This purchase has made me very happy.
