Selected User Reviews For ProAm USA Orion Jr DVC50 Compact DSLR Video Camera Jib Crane Tilt, 4 ft

I thought that was cool, but it was even better! It's not easy being a YouTuber, but my small studio helps me a lot
5/5

If you want to see some of my musical works, just do a search under Thomas Grillo and theremin. Recently, I started working with jib cranes, and I even built a diy jib which I used to shoot some test footage. Although I began using jib cranes, it soon became obvious that I needed to replace them with properly manufactured and tested equipment, and I have since added two new There is a ProAm DVC250 and a ProAm The video I plan to make of these will be available in a few weeks as soon as my review has been submitted. Thus, my opinion is that this little DVC50 is such a great little camera and way more than I expected. It is much too large to use safely in my main studio, but fits perfectly in my smaller studio, or other small rooms, and I can swing it anywhere without hitting anything. The DVC250 is 8 feet without the extender, but is still too long to use safely. Only 4 feet separate the counterbalance and camera end of the boom. In addition, I highly recommend that you use a good fluid tripod pan / tilt head for the camera. To prevent the camera from flopping over when using the pan head in tilt mode, I added a counterbalance under my old camera pan / tilt head. With the little jib, I use it in total manual mode. It is so short, you really don't need a pan / tilt motorized device to move It is also highly recommended that you do not use a conventional tripod to stabilize your gear, since jib cranes can grow heavy faster than most tripods can handle. In the end, I just bought the jib crane stand which is rated for up to 100 pounds and is much cheaper than the tripod I was looking at rated at 30 pounds. Since I ordered both the crane and the stand through BC Media, the crane head mount was included because they knew I had ordered the stand with the jib. This meant I didn't have to deal with a separate setup for the stand. In addition, I recommend getting the jib monitor, since even though you're right there, right beside the camera, you'll have to navigate around the structure of the jib if the viewfinder of the camera is blocked. When that happens, it helps to have a monitor on the jib so you always have a good view of what the camera sees. Additionally, a lanyard would be a good idea to have on your jib or your pan head. It might be a good idea to contact the manufacturer and ask that they fit a tilt handle on your jib, like those found on larger My crane must be modified, and I've already reached out to them. They advised that it may be possible, but I must send it to them for modification. There is no need to go through all that, you can order the tilt handle, and add it yourself according to your specifications. If you had the tilt handle, you could do some cool Dutch angle effects as well as tilt. You could do the Dutch angle thing this way, but it would be more difficult. If you locate the right pan and tilt head, you could do it that way. I just have one more thing to add. Unlike other jibs, this one comes with three sets of holes drilled into the boom and stabilizer bars between the stand and camera end. These holes allow the operator to adjust the boom's position. In this way, you can balance the vessel or for custom operations, adjust the jib, and so on. A NEW UPDATE My visit to the ProAm website revealed that they've released the DVC60. This camera mount features a centered position. In order to replace an existing side-slung mount, I contacted them about purchasing just the camera mount that is made for the DVC60. Not only did they offer me the mount, but also explained the extension plate that extends out well ahead of where the mount is placed. For both my jibs, I ordered two sets. It is much easier now to work with the jibs after finishing the retrofit.

For the price, I am very pleased
5/5

I was pleased with the speed at which my order was processed and shipped. Upon receiving the set within 3 days, I immediately started playing. I was over the moon when it arrived at my front As a second step, I bought all three pieces recommended to me at the same time. This crane, tripod, and bag is perfect for capturing moving images and stills The reason why I am glad I did is because I learned a lot in the process. For the price, I feel it's a no-brainer, if you don't already have such a rig. The tripod seems custom-made for the crane as a whole, so if you don't have one, I really recommend you get one. As a final step, I put the rig together in just a few In my case, it went without a hitch and took less than two minutes. It took me 5 minutes if you count me trying to adjust the height to which I want this thing to go. In their recommendation, you should use a counter weight of 3 pounds This is four times the number of settings on your camera. With both a DSLR and a full-size camera, I found the 22-mm focal length to be the best My experience has been that 30lbs work well. However, it will depend on how each user has configured their computer. A note about dumb bell plates used on the crane I used them. In any case, because the bolt itself is so small, you might want to use some type of inner coupling to prevent the plates from shifting or rattling. You may experience a jumpy shot as a result. In addition to the fluid head, I recommend a better shot if you want to improve the shot. I really appreciate how much easier it is to pan the camera. If you are going to use a left-handled item, make sure that the handle is on the right. The head of the camera tends to hit the crane arm if you swing it around too much. Generally, I have to say that for the price, I definitely think it's worth it, especially if you're just starting out and need Another thing is that the weight is quite light when it is all together. In some instances, it might not fit into your trunk, but you can carry it with one hand in the case and hold on to your camera at the same time. It didn't work for me in the least.

Strong, well constructed
5/5

This 4' crane can add professionalism to your production and give you sweeping shots that will give your production a wider range of dynamics and smoothness. From the pivot to the camera head, it's 4' long, so you can use it either indoors or outdoors. Camera mounting brackets are ideal for wider DSLRs or cinema cameras, as well as portable cameras for hand-held use On mine, I have a rail system mounted with a matte box that adds to the look and functionality. It's a bit flimsy and has a little wiggle problem from side to side, and the top arm is a little flimsy as well Not much seems to be affected by it on the side. The shoe isn't to be worn everyday It's not the most important part, so I'm not bothered by There is no need to remove anything other than the wing nuts The assembly and maintenance of equipment. Fortunately, there is enough clearance for cables on the arm, which makes it easy for me to connect my optional monitor. The only thing I would have preferred is to have a horizontal control arm. I was disappointed that this did not include one. The current working system is good enough for now. I may fabricate something later if necessary. Overall, I'm pleased with the price and quality of the product.

I bought this product for a company I was working on to produce an informative video
5/5

If you want to resell it, it will be tough. have this thing that nobody wants locally and I suspect even selling it cheap wouldn't make it worthwhile to ship it. If you want to resell something like this, you might find it really difficult to do. As far as the product itself is concerned, I think it is quite Rather than have a lock to secure it in one spot, it is not equipped with one. Also, I noticed a few broken parts of a plastic O-ring Although it looked like it was affected by the ring between the head piece and the face, it didn't seem to matter.

There are also tutorials online on how to make your own, which I was doing while the shipment was being shipped for about $40 total. The tool works quite well as long as you're handy and not rushed so you can make a good job of it.
