Compared to the Roguesm2, the Roguesm2 is much improved and worth the extra cost! It fits much better and is much more secure. It is worth upgrading just for the new strap. The flash head doesn't have to be stressed since it's lighter. Since the bending rods are firmer and I don't have to adjust them as often, they last longer. I found this to be a great flash bender and it totally solves my problems when I have low lights or dark ceilings, where it's nearly impossible to bounce the light. This is a book that I recommend wholeheartedly.
The reason for not doing so is not apparent to me. It not only disperses the flash light, but it also softens it, meaning that when you take the picture, your subject is not adversely affected. It's recommended you take out the camera at night first before you consider using it on the wedding day.

My office is equipped with a large size Rogue FlashBender that I use several times a day. For audition work for actors and performing artists, I was looking to use the XL for home and personal use, as well taking headshots for actors and performing artists. News photography really does require photographers to be on the run and out of the way. The XL is quite large, not really suited for "run and gun" types of work. It is quite perfect for more controlled environments, however, like studio work, or outdoor "fashion" shoots, where control over the environment is more easily achieved. As such, for more informal settings (family ), and my news work, I use the Large FlashBender, while for modeling, fashion, and corporate portraits I usually use the XL.
