These LEDs were purchased because I required battery-operated RGB lights for film and music video sets. Because these are so inexpensive, I decided to take a chance. It was a pleasant surprise for me. These items are small and light in weight. AC power bricks and even aluminum stands are included in the box. The build quality is far superior to what you'd expect from a light at this price point. THEN, with the addition of a Sony NPF battery, these devices become DC. That's fantastic! br>br>I haven't had the opportunity to use them on set yet, but I did give them a quick test run in the studio with my assistant. You're capable of putting together a fantastic 2-person project. With these, I was able to create a light portrait setup. I recommend draping a piece of diffuser over the front of your key light (as shown in my examples). One with diffusion and the other without). I included a few behind-the-scenes shots so you can see how I use these lights in my demonstrations. br>br>I adore the built-in special effects on these, and I'm excited to use them on set in the near future. br>br>The bottom line is that these items are well worth the small outlay.
The first thing I noticed about these lights is that they are all made of metal, and they feel very sturdy and reliable. The barn door hinge mechanism does a good job of keeping them in place while also allowing me to move them where I need them. br>br>I was relieved to discover that they can be used without the app. The knobs and buttons on the back of the light can be used to select all of the app's functionality. When it's up high, I don't have to move the light or get a step stool because the screen on the back is easy to read from any angle. br>br>I'm not usually a fan of using my phone as a remote, but this app was so simple to use that it quickly became my preferred method of controlling these lights. I switched on both lights and asked it to look for them, and it did so immediately. They were assigned to me in the app, and I can control them individually or as a group. It's as simple as tapping the color wheel to change the color. In the time it would take me to set up a typical RGB light with knobs, I could have both lights set up and be sipping coffee. br>br>They produce a large amount of light for moody lighting with high intensity and high falloff. br>br>I like how the stands are spring-loaded to protect the lights from damage in the event of a fall. The legs are wide enough to support the weight, but not so wide that they are difficult to maneuver. Overall, I'm pleased with this kit. br>br> br>br>Strongly suggested. br>br>.
Wow, for the price, this is a fantastic light; I have the three-set 660-LED version, which is fantastic. I was satisfied with the previous performance, but this takes it to a new level. These now have a special effects mode, with more available via the Neewer app, as well as improved build quality and a higher CRI rating. On your phone, you can control each light separately, turn it off, change the color settings, or get the exact same color on both or even multiple lights. I like that it can be powered by both AC and battery, making it versatile for indoor and outdoor use or for run and gun style. The light stands are nice, and they do the job, but for use outside, you should add some sand bag weight. I believe it is best suited for indoor use, studio work, YouTube, and indie film sets, all of which I intend to use these lights for. I can't think of anything I dislike about it. It is highly recommended.
Overall, I was pleased, but I did notice that the item I received had been previously used. One of the cases has a tear, and the light has scuff marks. I'm hesitant to keep them because I have no way of knowing if they were dropped. Because of some of the things I didn't like when testing these, I looked into some competitors and decided to buy another brand. PROS: br>br> The lighting is bright, and the price is reasonable for what you get. I was pleased with the tripods because they are very sturdy, much more so than others I've tested. The app that controls the lights is responsive and Bluetooth enabled, making it simple to set up and control all of the lights at once. br>br>CONS: The cases are cheap, and the foam insert is awkward to fit the light in because it isn't exactly shaped to the light (at least in the one I bought), so you have to shimmy it in. I wasn't particularly impressed because the cases only hold the lights, and I'd have to buy a new case for everything. I don't believe there is a way to detach the barn doors (please correct me if I'm wrong). The brightest setting is brighter than some of the competitors, and if having a very dim option is important, there are better lights available.
These lights are extremely bright but they lose the color you set as the intensity decreases below 60%. Furthermore, the barn doors obstruct the yoke tightening wing nuts, making it difficult to adjust the head angle position with the barn doors in place. Additionally, the barn doors do not effectively block light, resulting in LED bulb shadows. To get rid of bulb shadows, more diffusion is required.
put together I've been considering getting a set of lightweight LED panels for a while now, as I've been using larger softbox and COB LED lights that take longer to set up and are heavier. For quick interviews or smaller scene setups, those are sometimes overkill, and my other lights are only daylight balanced, so there are no color options. So these are great multi-purpose LED lights with plenty of power! They are in good spirits. made, and they're mostly made of metal, but they're still fairly light. The included battery or NP style batteries can be used with either AC or DC power. I also discovered that you don't need to have two batteries connected at the same time; it will work with just one, which surprised me. As a result, you can hot-dog Replace the batteries without turning off the panel. Or just have the two for longer battery life; I also like that these can be mounted vertically or horizontally on the yolk for different setup needs. Another advantage is that I won't have to purchase barndoors separately, and the light stands are included. It's also helpful to have the app to control the color and scenes. The fireworks and party seem to be a lot of fun, and the siren modes appear to be quite realistic. For production work, it's been a fantastic addition to my gear.
