In the past, I've rented a lot of Fresnel heads, but I have never wanted one since they are a) expensive and b) bulky. This is neither of those things. Basically, it aligns the light so that I can position it precisely where I wish. It is running on a Godox A600, using high definition It's amazing what you can achieve with speed sync inside bright daylight.
The Fresnel attachment is nice, however, other than working with 3rd party COB lights, it does not work with other models. This camera was intended to be used with the Godox VL300, but the beam isn't as good as I had hoped. I found that it wasn't working as expected after some testing. I found a review of it by Fellow Filmmaker on her YouTube channel, so I searched for other blogs reviewing it. A screenshot from the video is attached.
All that is left is the leaky light. The Fresnel lens is awesome. Only one flaw is that there is a light leak on the side, but this can easily be fixed with some black tape.
I found these to be okay for the price. The beam angle isn't the sharpest but it's what you get with bark doors. This is good to have just in case I need it, but I am not sure how much I will use it. I'm not convinced that the build is strong enough. A plastic material. You might want to think about what you're buying if you're just doing it because Amazon suggested it.
I was much more impressed than I was expecting with the build quality. The fresnel lens is one of the most important accessories that came with my 120D. In addition to using this for commercial work, I will use it for film.
I used it with my Apurture 120 light about 60' away from a stage and it worked well. You did a great job with the subject. There was no light spill when I paired the barn doors with them- It has ended.
It is very portable and easy to use.
There was never a case for this.
