There's a lot of good and a lot of bad in this story. I decided to take a chance on this one, and I'm glad I did. 1. br>br> It's made of solid material that won't bend or sag. 2. br>br>1. br>br>br>br>br>br Design is excellent. It opened the cartridges right away with little effort for someone who was completely new to film development. br>br>3. I'm not sure why I was about to pay $20 for a tool like this, but it's a good price. br>br>I'm glad I bought it; it's incredibly simple to remove the film from the cartridge, and I look forward to using it each time I shoot a roll.
It does, however, bend the top of the canister you're removing. It also scratches the canister wherever it comes into contact with it (lid, body, and so on). As a result, this is inconvenient for me. I wanted to be able to open the film cartridges without damaging them in any way so that I could make a novelty keychain out of them. br>br>The tool works, but the cartridges are harmed.
This is a game changer. There was a time when I was struggling to open the top of the film canister in my dark bag, and this thing made things so much easier. This small CanOpener is placed on top of the film canister and opens it in one simple motion. This is an item that I would strongly recommend.
This device does exactly what it claims. It's far better than using a bottle opener and far more reliable than attempting to extract the leader from 35mm canisters in the dark. Finished nicely (powder coat?). For a simple piece of cut and bent sheet steel, it feels great in the hand. This book comes highly recommended.
Perhaps because the small divot didn't actually clear the film spools' tops. When I finally got it to open the canisters, I discovered that it had bent the metal to a point where it couldn't be repaired. If you wanted to reload with it, it would be useless. Regrettably, I've been returned.
It does exactly what it's supposed to. It takes a little while to get used to, but once you do, it's perfect.
The basic design is good and the construction is well done.
Makes it simple to remove the film from the container, as advertised.
