It's a little pricey for a Point. dSLR cameras ranging from entry-level to mid-level I waited four months to write this review to ensure that my opinion had not changed. That hasn't happened, and I adore this camera! It is capable of producing high-resolution images. It has a wide-ranging zoom lens (24mm - 600mm). It has all of the automatic features you could want (focus, aperture, film speed, and shutter speed) and is 105mm wide. Alternatively, you can choose manual shutter speed or aperture and the camera will take care of the rest. You can also go with an all-inclusive option. If you want to do everything yourself, the manual is the way to go. It has a high pixel count (24 megapixel) and can even shoot in RAW, allowing you to do a lot of darkroom magic if you want to. br>br>I used to shoot with a manual SLR (a Canon FTb) from the early 1970s until the late 1990s, when I lost interest, having purchased a 35mm and a 135mm lens to supplement the 50mm lens that came with the SLR. I had a lot of accessories as well. Flashes, macro tubes, remote releases, yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada yada ya Whenever I left the house, I felt like a pack mule. I learned a few things about manual SLR cameras: They're quite substantial. I used the stock 50mm lens for 80% of my pictures; I could only get good pictures when I had plenty of time to set up the shot. Dumping 30 MB of data into a memory card takes time, so a fast memory card is essential for getting the best shot rate possible. br>2) Consider purchasing a Lensmate filter adapter. You can use this device to attach a UV filter to your zoom lens to protect it from dirt and water. br>3) Purchase a backup battery, preferably a Canon (pricey but worthwhile). Batteries are the lifeblood of digital cameras, so it's a good idea to have a backup on hand when you're out shooting for an extended period of time. br>4) Get a good strap; the wrist strap that came with the camera is insufficient. Take a look at the Peak Design Camera Leash; it's a great product. When storing the camera, it is tough, flexible, and simple to remove. br>br>If you want to be able to change lenses, this is not the camera for you. However, if you want to take a lot of great pictures without having to lug around a lot of gear, this camera is worth looking into!.
