No, there isn't one in the box. However, as someone who has used microscopes that cost over a hundred times as much as this one, I can attest to the fact that it performs admirably for such a low price.
Yes, binocular microscopes or stereoscopes, such as this one, are very easy to use, and slides and specimens require very little preparation and order to enjoy viewing them. I've had a lot of fun with my plant leaves and flower petals, which look especially lovely when backlit. However, for larger items, it is preferable to have light coming from above, so having the option is advantageous.
The product is poorly constructed and difficult to use.

To my grandchildren, it's a whole new world. I'm only a novice, so I don't use it for anything particularly difficult, but it's a great way to show my grandsons how to use a microscope. world. Hair, cactus thorns, and bugs can all be seen in a new light when magnified by 10 times. That dust mite-sized gnat has eyes and antennae all of a sudden! It's there at 30X if you need it to see the colors on that junk mail flier are made up of tiny dots. It does exactly what I needed it to do. It isn't a toy, but it isn't either.
