This microscope is amazing. An example of this is when we reverse a vasectomy to check the success of the procedure. Besides being very bright and giving a great view, it also has a great view. Additionally, this is a fairly heavy microscope I love the way it feels.

Our family is home schooling boys between the ages of 6 and 8 I didn't want a plastic toy for my kid since they can be rough, and I wanted a lot of magnification so I could see what our eyes As far as I was concerned, the microscope did not disappoint. In light of the fact that many if not all of the lesser microscopes offered have plastic "lenses", the "optical glass lenses" of this microscope There is good sharpness and clarity in the images. Providing light is either from 3AA batteries (3 each) or by a wall outlet and there is a well placed switch on the base that is easily manipulated. It seems obvious that you can't possibly take this thing with you on a field trip, but I can't imagine a reason to do so. According to the description, the frame and body are made entirely of metal. There is no significance in the fact that the bottom cover is plastic. As far as I'm concerned, this machine is made in China, and I don't buy the $450 price claim. Although you can avoid the $90 handling fees with an Amazon offer, it is well worth the $90+ shipping. Even so, I bought the scope in addition to the Amscope 50-piece prepared slide box for a total of $4something in shipping charges. The one you would choose is not known to me. As part of the scope, a transformer and two WF view finders are included, but I have yet to find a way to install the second one. This is a different version from the one that came pre-installed. There was one report of poor packing of the scopes. The package came in good shape and everything was in place. I would have given this product a 5 if I hadn't given that reason. The instrument itself deserves a rating of 5/stars. It has been so long since I used a microscope in school, and I am quite sure I did, that I do not remember. In the end, I decided not to buy the book since there is lots of free info available online (rightly, I later discovered). However, purchasers of this scope must be ready to take one of the two approaches. A final note. In doing the research online, I learned that a scope with 1000x magnification might require immersion oil, but that is not the case for all lenses, so there's no way to tell if it will work with your lenses. On the paperwork there's a toll free number, so I called.
