There was no easy way to adjust the focus. Thanks to an online sale, we found this one for just a few dollars more and it came with a plug The LED light source was very bright, the optics were excellent, and focusing was easy. The book will be a good match for our granddaughter who is in middle school. You should be hesitant about microscopes that use two AA batteries for their light source. I couldn't see anything because of the lack of light.
My school required me to buy a microscope, but I was thrown off by the reviews and stressed out, so I waited until the last minute to buy it, browsing all the In the end, it does what I thought it would - I believe it was for a general college biology course. Despite its low cost, I found this microscope to be disappointing. For school, I did buy the cheapest laptop I could find, but I had expected it to work That may be because I used it more for college level work rather than elementary work. Finding the field was difficult, and some of the specimens did not appear spectacular. My lenses also seem to be covered in sticky stuff.
It wasn't often that I used the prepared slides, but they were great to look at.
If it were up to me, I'd give nothing! I have used it twice but the second time my daughter used it the light smelled like fire and had smoke coming out of it. It is hard to believe it had so many good reviews. As a result of your research, I'm beginning to think that Amazon boosts these reviews in order to make more money. We never made it to the appointment my daughters had planned to look at their bacteria this day.
I think it's a great value, except for the 40x objective lens, which appears to have some problem with quality control. It isn't clear if there is adhesive on the lens or whether the glass is cracked, but the lens is.
With a good light source, it is easy and convenient to use. A six-year-old grandson was introduced to the micro world by me.
