Questions & Answers

What makes this model different from the previous one?

This new model has a much slimmer profile and is designed to work with our new Capture v3 model.

In comparison to the Capture, what is the most common use?

This will work with Capture, allowing the camera to sit below the waistline, making it better for large/heavy camera setups and allowing for easier vertical interaction with Capture.

Is the pro pad flexible enough to allow for more comfortable actions such as sitting?

Although the device is fairly rigid, it does allow you to slide your camera to your hip and sit more comfortably. Because removing the camera is simple, I usually detach it before sitting and reattach it when I stand. I used it for the entire month of April in New Zealand and Australia and found it to be very useful. It freed up my hands, and I didn't have to deal with a camera on a strap swinging around.

This past year, I switched from another brand to their capture system, and I've been very pleased with it
3/5

In relation to the pad. First and foremost, I'd like to state that I am a huge fan of Peak Design! This past year, I switched from another brand to their capture system, and I've been very pleased with it. However, while this pad is probably better than clipping the camera to your belt (which I don't do), I have to say that it is still not very comfortable (or stable) for a full-frame camera. sized DSLR, especially if it's a high-end model. Think Tank also makes a much larger version with a thicker pad that works with the Peak Design Capture and is better suited to DSLR cameras. I think this would be fine for a mirrorless camera like a Sony A7 or a Fujifilm, but I wouldn't use it with my Canon 5D Mark IV or 1D X. This could also work for a Canon or Nikon consumer model (with plastic bodies and lenses, for example). For the time being, I'm still looking for a replacement for my Cotton Carrier harness, which allows me to walk around with my Canon with a 70-200mm lens. 200 2. I have 8 lenses on my chest, but I can't seem to find anything.

Increases the effectiveness of the Capture Clip
5/5

Why did Amazon ask me to give it a warm, comfortable, and thick rating? Uhm. Let's have a good time with this, shall we? br>br>It's a lovely dark grey fabric that's warm and inviting. br>br>It feels really good in my hand, not because it belongs on your belt or backpack strap or whatever, but because I'm sliding my belt through it to get ready to carry my DSLR around at all times. It's really nice and cozy. br>br>Whatever they use to stiffen it up in the back is exactly the right thickness. br>br>All right, that was entertaining, but br>br>The Capture Clip is exactly what I've been waiting for, but I didn't realize how much I needed it until I got one. Mounting it sideways on your belt is, of course, extremely inconvenient. It's terrible that you have to draw your camera with one hand. It's horrible to put the camera back on your belt sideways. It's not bad having a fairly heavy camera attached to a backpack strap via the Capture Clip. Place the Pro Pad on top of it. br>br> Look out, world, for that thick, warm, and comfortable Pro Pad. It is capable of performing the following feats: br>br>Drop your camera a little lower off your belt, allowing you to wear a flannel or other shirt while still having easy access to your camera. Nothing beats an aging hipster who can quickly draw his DSLR during a late-afternoon landscape shoot. br>br>Allows for one-handed, real-time access from your hip. The quick release pin is now exactly where my pinky wants it to be. "Wow, this could be a great photo," my eye says, and my camera miraculously appears in my hands. Then it just slides down into the clip when I'm done. It's a real pain in the tuckus to do it all sideways. br>br>Adds stability to any mounting situation with its 5 star thickness. Assume you attach the Capture Clip to the shoulder strap of your wacky old Domke J-100. You want to relive your glory days of backpacking around the world with this bag. When you try to pull your camera out of the clip, it wiggles, flexes the strap, and other such things. The stiffness of the Pro Pads equals comfort and warmth on a five-star scale. tldr: tldr: tldr: tldr: tldr: tldr If you're going to carry your camera on your hip, this is the bag to get. I'm going to stash it somewhere else in case you don't require it.

For the first time, I bought the Capture Camera Clip V3 to use
5/5

I first bought the Capture Camera Clip V3 to use on my belt, but it didn't work because a thinner belt flexed, making it difficult to attach the camera to the clip. Furthermore, the weight distribution appeared to be a little uneven. The camera and its weight are now lower with the Pro Pad, and the pad's width provides more stability, making holstering the camera much easier. The pad also allows for more mounting flexibility; with the belt, you could only holster the camera sideways due to the way it was mounted. It's a more natural vertical position with the Pro Pad, and because it's skinnier than the Capture Clip, you can angle it to either side depending on your preference.

Peak Design never ceases to amaze me! Peak Design is, as usual, stunning
5/5

They are extremely well-informed. I bought it in the hopes that it would make a nice fold-out table. No, it's made of great fabric wrapped around a sturdy piece of rigid material that not only provides excellent support but is also extremely comfortable. Furthermore, the flap against your leg is wider, ensuring that the screws never cause discomfort, which was a major concern for me. The stitching is flawless; I'm not sure how to describe it, but I know it won't fray or snap on me anytime soon. PD could have thrown a quick piece of material into their accessory pile and laughed all the way to the bank as people bought a junk product, but it's clear that they put some serious thought into the design.

A fantastic replacement for a tense neck strap
5/5

This is a review of both the pro pad and the capture clip version. 3 because, quite frankly, they're a perfect match. br>I bought both for a week-long period of time. I'd be taking my 5D MK3 with a 50mm prime lens on a long trip to Rome. I already own a 30l Peak backpack and wrist strap, and I adore their products' functionality and aesthetics. There isn't a difference between the two of them. Every day we were there, I wore both in my belt for the entire time we were there, touring sites for 10 hours a day. It was great having the camera on my belt at all times, and I often wore the wrist strap while it was clipped in for added security. The camera did not swivel or move much, and the locking feature is excellent. Overall, it's a good substitute for a neck strap. Peak Design has once again delivered a high-quality product.

A camera should be carried in a comfortable and easy manner
5/5

My camera (Olympus OMD EM1 Mark 2 w/14-42mm lens) is with me at all times. I had previously attached the PD Capture Clip v3 directly to my belt, which allowed the camera to slide in sideways, which was sometimes difficult due to the clip being difficult to grasp, especially when wearing a jacket or rain coat. The camera now slides into the clip from the top with the Pro Pad, making it a lot easier to use. However, in order to operate the cilp's locking mechanism, I had to place a rubber spacer between the plate and the camera. In addition, the camera is more at ease on my hip.
