This mini tripod was not designed for that purpose, in my opinion. I'm not sure how the water (fresh/salt) would affect the plastic/metal part. In response to your question, I would not recommend using it. Get one that is specifically designed for that purpose, as well as one with some floatation (recoverable) in case you drop it. I hope this information is useful to you in answering your question. In comparison to my polarpro tripler, this has a very small footprint.

This is the one I bought to go with my Osmo Action, and it works great. They come with an extension pole / tripod unit, as well as a 1/4"-inch action mount. 20 adapter for use with a standard tripod mounted camera, two locking pins (more on that later), and some gaskets in case a third-party accessory is too loose in the mount. br>So instead of a screw connection, PGYTECH has come up with locking pins, which are absolutely brilliant. Simply slide the locking pin in, turn it a-, and you're done. quarter- To use the tripod, simply flip the legs out of the handle and extend the first portion of the extension pole slightly. Rubberized feet on the tripod legs help it stay put. Overall, this is a fantastic tripod; you can't go wrong with it; well done, PGYTECH!.
It feels good in your hand once you've opened it up; the grip isn't too thick and not too thin to wrap your hand around. I bought it because a lot of youtube creators were sent free pgytech products to review, but instead of relying on free product reviews, I should have done a little more research. br>br>The pgytech extension pole is a little longer than the gopro shorty, but not quite as long as the max grip pole. The pgytech handle is much more comfortable to hold than the gopro max grip, but that's about it for me. In my opinion, the pgytech connection at the handle to the pole is a little shaky. It's a little shaky, and while I'm confident it won't break, I'm concerned. br>br>When it's set up, the tripod feels a little cheap; I was very careful with it, and I can see it breaking at some point. When the tripod legs are out, it takes a bit of finesse to lower the pole. br>br>I adore the quick connection pin that keeps your action camera in place, but I'll eventually lose it. They give you a backup because they know it will break, get misplaced, or because they are simply nice. br>br>The extension works on tension, so pulling it out and pushing it in has some resistance. I prefer twist locking, but it does hold when extended, so it's a matter of personal preference. br>br>Despite the fact that it's a nice extension pole, I'm not sure I'll keep it. It has more "drawbacks" than "benefits" in my opinion. Side note: I wish there was a point where you could attach a wristlet to the bottom in case you drop it; I haven't yet, but you never know with it extended in the wind. br>br>In conclusion, if you're looking for a cheaper alternative to gopro accessories, this is a viable option. However, I already own the shorty, max grip, el grande, and handler, so the pgytech extension pole isn't worth the switch for me. br>br>I liked it, but not a lot, and while it's half the price of most GoPro extension poles, price isn't as important to me as quality.
I recently purchased an Osmo Action in preparation for a trip to Disney and was looking for something to bring with me as a backup tool. This small handheld tripod performed admirably, exceeding all of my expectations and allowing me to feel completely at ease while using it. br>br>Attaining the camera is simple; a small bolt extends through the bottom of your action case and into the tripod. It fits in a specific direction, requiring twisting to manipulate it in the correct direction, and is secured with a push-down lever that locks it in place. When attached, the camera can tilt forward and backward to change the angle if necessary. Even when shaken up and down, the camera remains quite secure. br>br>The telescoping component is also very sturdy; I'm sure I've opened and closed it hundreds of times by now, and it's still holding up at all levels. For the majority of my time using it, I found myself extending out the first level. It holds up well and never slips from one level to the next. br>br>The tripod is a really cool feature. It's the handle, which detaches to form a three-way stand and holds together well when in use. Simply pop open the bottom and extend the three components before placing them down to separate. When in use, the pieces click together magnetically at the bottom of the handle and stay open and steady. When finished, the pieces come back together just by gravity. br>br>This is a fantastic product that I have thoroughly enjoyed using both during and since my trip. Remember that this isn't a gimble and won't compensate for motion (though the camera's rocksteady will). I was also concerned that I wouldn't be able to enter Disney with it. I've never had an issue with it, and I've used it at security checkpoints and on rides a few times. There were no problems at all. I wouldn't be obnoxious about it, but if you're worried, I had no problems with it.
Standard Screws are not used; instead, proprietary pins are used. A couple of rubber-banded audio connectors appeared to fall out when I opened the box. I attempted to attach my DJI Osmo Action camera to the unit but was unable to do so due to a lack of industry-standard screws. Tightening screw for GoPro cameras. I tried three different types of screws but couldn't get them to work - Nothing was going to fit. When I was packing everything back into the box to send to Amazon, I noticed that what had fallen out were pins that you use instead of industry-standard connectors. screws of the same type Everything was correctly put together in a matter of seconds. It was convenient that two of these pins were included, rubber-banded together. The camera appears to be a little shaky, but that is to be expected. To aid in the tightening of thecsmera, gaskets are provided. I'm not going to use it as a selfie stick; instead, I'll keep it on my desk. All- Five stars for everything. Just don't expect to find a lot of paperwork. However, once you understand that the unit uses proprietary pins instead of the tightening screws used by all other products, you'll be fine. I hope this information is useful and that it saves you 20 minutes of figuring out why the screws aren't working.
