During the little time I got to view, the inevitable breathing-induced fog would plague my viewing nights. I had to have an eyepiece heater. My primary field of view is visual, and I have a few 2" eyepieces that seem thrilling when mounted onto my dob to observe stellar and planetary objects. In the wake of the recent conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter, I saw my target as far too low on the horizon, and it got worse as the days ticked by. Early in December, my wife and I were out and we kept breathing on the eyepiece. We got really frustrated, so I looked up this thingy and bought it. I was able to plug it right into my USB powerpack I've had for years and it works perfectly. One heater which I tried working with my powerpack and an adapter cord to USB did not work with another one which was intended for an expensive battery setup (returning it as I was just testing it to see if it would work and it did not warm up much). It doesn't matter to me whether it's dewy or not If I use something with my USB pack that works nearly as well as the Dewzapper, I would not use the Dewzapper system. However, your mileage may vary depending on whether you intend to use a 12 volt supply for other things or justify spending $150 on a power distribution.
This product was used to warm up the sides of an acrylic fish tank to prevent condensation from forming and causing mold to grow. I plugged it in directly without the included temperature regulator, as it works well with the included regulator, but the regulator shuts it off automatically after a certain amount of time. I wanted it to remain on constantly, so I did not use the In the process of leaving it running for about 3 days, I ended up getting a little bit of deformed plastic on the tank. Apparently I should have been using the regulator all along! As a result, I'm giving it five stars because the quality was very good, and it appears to be a good fit for its use in a camera. The Velcro attachment system was also great, because I was able to attach the lens warmer to a bigger surface than intended simply by using a regular strip of Velcro. Moreover, I liked that the regulator is a separate item, as it gives me more flexibility in terms of.
This program works well and can be used easily. It's only a couple more dollars to order the long one (400mm), since it just wraps around on itself, so it will fit a larger range of diameters, from 2 inches up to 5 inches, and it will fit a wider range of diameters in general. In case the first one fails, I ordered a second one.
My goal was to have one size for each lens, so I bought three different sizes. It is easy to attach them to the lens because they are all of the correct size. I was surprised that the units did not consume too much power, making them a perfect tool.
Exactly what I was looking for to go with It is turned on just before dusk when I set up my tent. Using medium was the right choice for me. My power strip has a USB port where I plug my camera into. I did not experience any dew issues with it.
I have not tested the longevity of this yet, but it works much better than expected on my 80mm telephoto lens. I'd like to order a spare for the price.
It's economical and you get what you pay for. My skywatcher ed refractor has an aperture of 100 mm, so I ordered the 320 mm (middle size). My choice should have been a larger model, as it was barely big enough. If you intend to attach the dew heater in the area where you measure the circumference, make sure the heater will fit!.
