Here is a review of the SMALLRIG 15mm Railblock Rod Clamp with 1/4" - 3/8" Bore The thread count is 20. Using a Neewer Universal Aluminum 15mm Rail Rod Support System High Riser DSLR Camera Mount Baseplate and a CAMVATE Aluminum Alloy Camera Handle Grip, I mounted the 15mm Railblock Rod Clamp on the 15mm Rails. In this case, it provided a part of a custom-built system To use with Tamron 150-mm lens, I constructed an extended handle system An optical zoom lens of 600mm G2. In this role, the 7 was to be controlled and supported. A lens and camera system weighing more than 5 pounds while being held hand-held. A well-crafted SMALLRIG 15mm Railblock Rod Clamp that fits tightly on the 60mm center-to-center spaced 15mm rods of Neewer High Riser Blocks, the SMALLRIG clamp is well made and is easily locked on. Due to the multiple tapped holes on the SMALLRIG 15mm Railblock Rod Clamp, it is possible to mount the handle in its normal vertical operating position or to mount it horizontally between the 15 mm rails for storage or transportation.
However, it requires some manual work to clean up the edges and gaps. A railblock that is super light, well designed, and has ratcheting knobs is what you need. The precision isn't going to be top notch for a product at this price point. The inside rail dimensions of this item are just a few thousandths smaller than those specified since it is painted, rather than anodized. They just needed to be pry open a bit with a screwdriver due to this. As a consequence, my carbon fiber rods were badly damaged since the inside of the rod holes was not deburred. To remove the burrs, I used the screwdriver to debur the inner edges and everything is now fit and working fine. When purchasing this item, be sure the inside of the slots are free of sharp edges so the rods won't damage the machine. If they become damaged, you will be able to return it.
Rod clamps of this quality are very durable. In addition to the Sony A7 in the Vararon Zeus cage, I needed to carry a Vlock battery to power the Atomos Shogun and the Sony. To make the rig smaller without using an extra shoulder support I purchased 2 of these, cut some inexpensive 15mm rods to about 7", and a Vlock plate with rod clips had a Vlock battery on the side handle and it is incredibly strong using these railblocks.
With ratcheting knobs, you can keep knobs out of the way and keep a clean look. For my rig, I use this as a holding device for the main power switch. My solution to overcome this problem was to machine an aluminium plate that screws into the threads from the back, give it a nice brushed finish, and mount a This is a great looking and functional website! Under the switch on this same bracket, I will be adding a shoulder pad with a quick release.
I like the smooth finish of the parts for the price I paid, it is well made. It doesn't look like there is anything missing The aluminum is hard after all, but how hard is it comparing to potential screw hole stripping in the future? The aluminum in this picture is T6064, right? It's a no from me. It's not clear what they're thinking. It might not have been the best choice for clamping to the rail using hard aluminum (Split C clamp). An insert for screws made from stainless steel would be an ideal solution.
SmallRig is known for making excellent camera hardware at competitive prices. This clamp set was a great addition to my GH5 rig, and at a much more reasonable price than The quality remains very high and the attention to detail remains as well. Several things can be mounted to my cage, allowing me plenty of flexibility.
market for camera accessories is flooded with overpriced items that do not do much but are critical to the shooting process. The rod clamp I bought for $15 fit the bill perfectly for me and I am thrilled with it. With my purchase, I am satisfied with every cent I spent.
